I find it interesting, they don't want to have the biker event, but will spend money to draw tourists......WTF? Bikers always spend stupid money ask Sturgis and Daytona, and Laconia etc... sounds like a bunch of morons, Hell even the mayor is pissed at them. I more think of Hollister as Hollister Harry's custom painted Indians.......they're beautiful, and the folks working there are amazing.

Any of you been in the Hollister long enough to remember Jim's motorcycle shop? Some of those pictures remind me of where it was but since I left, the theater burned plus the whole area has changed anyway. Was just curious. We used to park our bikes across from Jim's and watch the 4th's parade. It grew a bit but now sounds like it's going back to that but at the other side of down. It's been 30 years since I lived there so know it's change A LOT.

That would be like the first time back in the 40s. Bikers would show up unexpectedly and scare the crap out of all the squares, the old people would get confused and frustrated and yell "What's become of the younger generation?" The cops would freak out and push their authority too far. Some of the young girls who want to get away or piss off their parents would glirt with the bikers and try to get rides out of town. The bikers would drink the town dry and wear out the Juke Box. And the next day it would be written upnin the papers as "Wild Bunch of Bikers Raid and Destroy Hollister."
    Or not. :D

Myrtle Beach tried to duplicate Daytona many years ago and started a rally. Then a few years back another nameless rally in the area was causing problems and the town council just decided to cancel them all and declare MB off limits to bikers. Hotels and businesses suffered and people started taking their business elsewhere, not just for the rally either.

Seeing the mistake they made, MB tried to reverse their decision and bring the rally back but it was never the same. In it's place, MB tourism has been replaced with a much more darker element and people pretty much avoid it like the plague.

I sure hope Hollister figures this out.

I'm only 35 miles away from Hollister, but didn't go this year. Just too dang hot! We rode down to Monterey on the 4th to watch their parade, and have lunch on the wharf, instead. Much cooler by the bay.

Yep. But you can also get wet and have to clean the bike when you get home. Well heck, I have to clean mine every time anyway. But you are correct, it's much cooler over there. Some might say it stinks though.:eek::D

I do a good, thorough clean about every third ride. Although, we don't usually go too awful far each ride.
