I remember coming home from church with my parents around 1960 in dad’s 1953 Chev and seeing a big snapping turtle crossing the road by our local river. Dad stopped the car and I got out with him to get a close up look at this slow portable hard shell. I never have forgotten the loud mean hiss that the snapper gave me when I stepped in his way. I was 7 years old at the time and jumped 10 feet out of his way, my heart was pounding to say the least ! Dad found a branch as big around as my arm and held it up to the snappers mouth and with one quick chomp the branch was in half. I learned respect for wild animals that day ! I did get out for a 25 mile ride on the Chieftain today, it is a rare occurrence to be able to do that in Minnesota on New Years Day ! There wasn’t any snappers crossing the road today !! Larry

Couple of Indian by an Indian Pics. These two were at Low Country Pipe and Cigar in Little River South Carolina. I had forgotten about these two until we were down there on Wednesday of last week in the Jeep. Had to make a quick run down on the bike the next day to get the pictures. There is actually a third one at this shop but it is in the window and the glare didn't make for a good pic.

Left Little River and took No. 9 to South of the Border. I haven't been here in 30 years! Still a tourist trap, but we thought it would be comical to get a photo next to Pedro!

Rode back to Dillon and grabbed some lunch and headed home. Rode around 210 miles that day. It was a beautiful day to ride.

New years day we headed out to Wallace NC to grab some lunch at Golden City Buffet. Left there and rode down to Hampstead NC to try and catch some family members at their beach house, but they had already gone home by the time we got there. So we headed down to Leland NC and stopped in at Local's bar and happened upon some riding buddies that got there the same time we did. So we visited with them for an hour or so. Caught up on everyone's holiday adventures and then headed on home. Got in another 180 miles that day.

Happy New Years everyone, going to try and get more riding in this year than last.

    Mike.

God bless he and his wife for taking time to answer some questions. He explained how a lot of the equipment works. Almost like having a personal tour guide

I’ve ridden down to Florida several times thru the years and no knowledge of that. And that pisses me off I’d have loved to visit there

That ain’t but about 73 miles from my house. Couldn’t ride that far right now if I wanted to though due to spine surgery. But, I can ride in my mind until they let me back on a bike again. ;)

I hate you, man! Not really, but you make me want to go to the Keys. I was born in Miami, but have only been down that far for cruises since sometime around the mid 70s. I keep saying I’m going down to the Keys when I retire, but I haven’t done either one yet. But, keep the pics coming, please..

You ever go down there in Oct for Fantasy Fest? I started to ride down there with some friends while I was still on active duty, but I decided not. I saw some of the pics of body painted old folks and got wind of the cost of an apartment for a week and decided not to go.

Thanks. Fantasy fest is crazy. Once was enough for me. My cousin, who bartends at sloppy Joe's, says this past one was out of control. Lots of college kids decided to come down and things got crazy. Anyways I'm way in south dade. It's about 130 miles to key west. I do day trips down there. And yes it's expensive. Especially during season and events. If I stay down there I go to Boyd's camp ground.

Yeah, someday….. The guys I was supposed to go down with were all retired military like me and we were gonna rent a house on the base for a week. Costs big money though.

Been out of town a few days with work and just now got chance to post pics from our ride this weekend. Nothing special, just rode up to Topsail Beach with a buddy of mine from work. It was beautiful day and a 180 mile round trip. Ate lunch at the Crab Pot, wasn't half bad. They were working on shutting down for the winter, so their selection was limited. But it was about the companionship more than the food anyway. We missed a chili cook off at the Trailer Bar. Had i known about it, we would have eaten their instead, Oh well! 1.jpg 3.jpg 4.jpg 5.jpg 6.jpg 7.jpg
