Too bad you're so far away! You'd be fun to ride with.
My wife rides now and loves the same stuff. We rode out to Cumberland Gap last fall and it was like historical marker overload! We stayed the night on a whim cuz we couldn't see enough in one day. Plan on heading back this year.

We have stumbled upon historical towns like you and have enjoyed finding out the history so much. What a great part of the country to be in!

Lol. Thanks! I guess I take it for granted. I was just complaining about it that it was not what I had hoped when I bought the land!

A little under 15 acres. Enough to move around, but I miss my 50 acres I had. Insane taxes drove me south. I went from $7000 a year to $350.

Nice (taxes, I mean). Yeah, I'm looking to buy at least 80 acres for my retirement property.

Once you get a taste of rural living you'll never go back to the suburbs or city.....

    No kidding.
I moved out of the suburbs when I was 19. Lived half an hour from the nearest store for 2 1/2 decades. An hour trip to get to Napa and back.
Here in TN, I am in the mountains, but 10 minutes from town.

Nice and quiet and you can pee outside whenever you want. Heaven!
    :)

I grew up 10 minutes from a small town. We had 20 acres on the Wisconsin River connected to a chain of 28 lakes. It was marvelous. Now, I live on the edge of a tiny town with under 2 acres on a little river. It's nice, but I want much more acreage. Need a shooting range, and room to move.

    Absolutely.
I loved going out to walk for hours and never leave the yard.

Nothing like a walk in the woods! Often hop onto the Appalachian trail for a bit.
    Good for the soul!

350 km of local spots, 2 lbs of wings, beer, and good company. A proper Sunday!

    117 Miles today.
Lunch in Bell Buckle, then through Wartrace on the way home.
It was a bit cold this morning....
