Evidence was misleading...maybe:
1) Site owner not logged in for nearly a year
2) photo uploads denied
3) throttled download speeds [poor loading performance]
4] Sudden, though predictable [given 1-3], 502 host server comm loss error

 

I was thinking,..."What if it's gone forever???,......Shizen!!!,...I'll have to start talking to Steph!!!!!,......Naaaa,....only joking,.....Life would not be life without Steph to talk to,.......or the forum to post to,.....so thanks to whoever fixed it,.....

Hi guys, I know I've only been lurking lately but wow, when the site went down I was in a bit of a mood. Like others here I would certainly miss you all and the idea of perhaps never being able to "talk" to any of you again was not a good feeling.

Glad to see we are back. I don't post a lot, but I am here every day or so just to see what is going on. I was going though withdraws over the past several days without any contact. You folk are like family. Glad you are visible again.

 

I'm like you Rusty Nuts. Being retired now this forum is one of the things I look forward to every morning with my cup of joe. Not being able to know how our injured riders are doing ( Baldhead, Lake City Larry, Gina to name a few) would drive me crazy. Not to mention getting the wisdom of our riders( Juan, Alpal, Yikirsh, Muz) on the other side of the pond and down under like to share. You can't get this anywhere else. The wife said "get a life". I told her this IS my life. Riding and sharing the experiences of like minded people around the world all in my own home on this computer is is in my mind the next best thing to being there. I love this site and all the crazy people on it. Hope it stays around for awhile.

While this site isnt my entire life, it is a part of my life that I look forward too for sure.

Maybe this site is how I justify my craziness or a need to belong.

I cant put a finger on it, but it is like a moth to a flame for me.

I just think it would be nice to have a Plan "B". Some place you can go to find what happened if something like this were to happen again. I have no idea how that would work, but maybe one of our tech savey guys can come up with something.

 

This would be a good approach.

Given we all provide an email address as part of our signing up process, I don't think it would be that difficult for an admin, owner, or site IT supporter to send out a group email letting people know that the site is down / being worked on / closed - and will up again soon (or not!).

It happens in every workplace I've been associated with whenever one of the various IT systems craps its pants.

I suppose plan B could be that other Indian site, but this place feels more like home.

I thought about that 4T, but it kind of felt like cheating. Like you said, this feels like home.
