    Trikes are Not Bikes! :p

At the Durango Rendezvous 2 one of the Indian Reps was there to answer questions and Trikes were brought up. He asked how many of our group would be interested in an Indian Trike and out of about 130 people there only 2 hands were raised. Then he asked about a version of the FTR 750 and about 20 hands went up.

As for Sidecars (the Only Real 3-wheel option for a Motorcycle:rolleyes:) there are several companies that already make them for the Indian and have mounted them on several Indians. I just ordered a Heritage from Hannigan in Kentucky. :)

Hannigan, DMC, and Champion all make copies of the Princess Sidecar for Indians. If you are after the style that typically went on the HDs o_O, you have options from DMC, Champion, and Liberty. On top of that there are even More businesses that will help you with other makes and ages of Sidecars. I, personally, don't think Indian needs to get in the mix as long as they keep building their bikes Sidecar friendly. :)

As long as they stay under 750cc they don't have to offer a production bike. With that said, it seems everyone wants a production version of the FTR.

Two wheels or three wheels, they are Motorcycles by most laws and thousands are sold each year.

I have three Biker Buddies that want a factory built Indian Trike and not a aftermarket rig.

    Read last year in American Iron Magazine stating;

"Motorcycle Industry experts say the sale of tens of thousands of trikes, whose sticker prices can rival an upscale sedan’s — a new three-wheeled Harley starts at $30,999 — has helped buoy a slumping industry and kept a generation of born-to-run riders on the roads, many even in their later 70s."

So, a factory Trike wouldn't hurt.

Hannigan's looks like a Factory Trike, and they do the whole thing right there in their place in Murry, Kentucky. If Dealerships wanted, they could ship Chieftains to Hannigan and have Hannigan ship the finished Trike back. I'm sure the Dealership could work out the Warranty issues.

Think Polaris is holding off to the last minute on putting any new models on with CARB since they now know we are all looking there to see whats coming out.

We'll have to continue to check the CARB on a regular basis.

It would be nice if they built an engine that could run on corn fuel (e-85). In Iowa that's about all the gas stations sell except BP.

I don't think that's a good idea. Too small a market in the USA. Might be viable in Brasil. Here it takes approximately 2 gallons of Crude Petroleum to make 1 gallon of Corn Fuel - not cost effective At All.

I was being sarcastic. Most of the fuel here is ethanol based, which makes the bike run like shit. Only BP and a few Casy's gas stations sell real gas.

Yeah, I almost ran dry in Iowa looking for a gas station that sold real petrol rather than pure ethanol.

Don't recall this happening, but been a while since last went through Iowa .. Will sure Keep this mind .. Accidently put 15% Ethanol in once and the Bike ran terrible until managed to dilute it back down with No Ethanol Fuel , never happened again, I look very close before adding Gas anymore.. That's why on a Road trip usually run on the Top 1/2 of Fuel Tank so can be bit more choosy ..

Maybe I'm confused....I thought they had two years to move from the 'purpose built' engine to a 'production base' engine in order to comply with series rules??

I'd like to see them finally switch the Scout over to four stroke.
I haven't been able to get weed eater oil since they came out with them.

Yes, the FTR has to go to a production based engine in 2019. CCs have nothing to do with it. Not sure where that came from.
