I have had her stripped back for a little while now, enjoying the pleasant summer and autumn weather (down under), with: bags off rear crash bars off (look like jumbo ears otherwise, when the bags are off) screen off I am always amazed how much lighter she feels when she is in "summer mode". I am not sure of the actual weight of the above items, but it must be close to 50kg (100lb) lighter, which makes quite a difference to the handing, particularly at slow speed. She almost feels like a Scout, but with a bigger ticker ! ! It does mean carrying a small back-pack occasionally, but still worth the effort.
Taken off her fat arse, haha. I think they do look better though with the bags on. Mine was exactly the same colour, I only really miss her when i take a hammering on shitty roads which we have a lot of here in New Zealand. Oh, and luggage space and capacity.
Actually mate, I would love to. I see the Scout and SF as the perfect combo for me. Fitting it in this garage might be challenge though. I have already used all the Tetris skills I can muster to make it work. Need to work out a better storage solution - some racking or similar. That’s the wife’s car (mine is in the street) and there is a camper trailer behind the crap between the car and bike. We love getting out and about in the camper, especially as Covid has us travelling internally these days. We are about to head to the Victorian highlands for 2 weeks. Can’t wait . . .
Did nothing to the bike, but did change my avatar. They reckon a change is as good as a holiday - and we cannot do a whole lot on the holiday front, so a change it is.
Well I didn't do it today but I recently had my 20 Springfield painted. I just couldn't warm up to the Burg/Grey combo... Candy apple red and Candy Brandywine mixed over black with silver flake and silver leaf striping. The dealer is displaying it to sell some custom paint jobs.
Indian has some nice color combos. But I love to see paint like this. Especially on the Roadmaster. There's just so much canvas to work with. Limited only by your imagination.
Yes!,......Best colour in the world Roadmaster!!,.....the same colour as my Intruder, Gertruda, Candy Apple Red,.....It looks fantastic Bud,....Word of warning is needed here however,......the first time you take it out and give her some flex?,.....Hang on tight!,....warn your pillion if you have one because you are going to be amazed at how that baby is going to fly Man!!!!!,......Reason being you painted that baby RED!!!!!!!,.......and anyone with a red bike will tell ya,......they just go faster!!!!!,,,......If Burt was still around he'd tell ya!,....... Ahhhhhh,.......Candy Apple red,.......Gertruda has sister in Wisconsin Alpal
Sorry to revive an old thread, but I'm curious as to how hard/easy it was to remove the rear crash bars, and to put them back on.
Rear crashbars are held on by two sets of 3 Allen head bolts each. On and off easy peasy. Shouldn't take more than 5 minutes.
