Took a drive over to the lake to see if I could spot some eagle's. Found a eagle's nest but didn't see any birds.
Ran over to the campground and deer was everywhere. IMG_20201229_143159445.jpg IMG_20201229_143221051.jpg IMG_20201229_143249900.jpg IMG_20201229_143350417.jpg

Deer are a regular sight around our place. A lot of Hawks in the air normally. Saw a beautiful Red Tail yesterday while driving. It swooped across the road about 20 feet in front of the cage. Not seeing many Foxes and the few Coyote’s I’ve seen looked like they have mange.

I just want to know how you get that close? When I get close they freeze in there tracks and then bolt. It is hard to get pics
Yesterday afternoon driving down an old dirt road. Wooly and I going one way a very elderly couple going the other way. All of us just watching deer. After a brief conversation I told Wooly our hillbilly is shining through. :)

About 1/4 down the road from the house I spotted a eagle. I watched it fly downward towards the field. I seen why....a dead deer was laying in the wheat field with 4 turkey buzzards feasting on the deer. The buzzards quickly scattered as the eagle came in. They had to wait until the eagle was done

Those deer around the campground are so use to people.

Down here (@cabin) the eagles fish. I have not seen them eat red meat. But I do know they will when hungry. I have not seen the eagle last two times down. Really sad as I seen a pair the time before that. Tried to get pic but spooked the female. Neighbor has been down all week and have not seen them. I wonder if they are okay or went south to avoid the sleet strom we just had.

The pattern with the eagle's the last 6-8 weeks have been around field's mainly not far from water however. Rodents are probably easy pickins with nothing planted in the fields except wheat. It's only 3-4" tall right now.

Now that you mention fox it's been a while since I've seen one. I usually see a fox or two in a valley leading into town. I haven't seen them for a long time. They're so beautiful!

Beautiful birds. When I lived in Alaska, we referred to them as “beach buzzards”.

If you want to see lots of eagles, go to Utica, IL in February. There's a power dam there, and above the dam the water stays open. Eagles gather to feed while nesting, My wife and I went there one weekend several years ago, and one person said they counted 180 eagles.
You can also see lots of them along the Mississippi along the IL/IA and WI/IA/MN borders.

Southwest Missouri - close to the chicken farms. I have several photos, some nice close up on clear blue sky day that I'll try to find. Anyway, these pics have young and old, and probably 40-50 in the flock. birds 002.jpg birds 001.jpg
