Just read an article about a possible vehicle mileage tax here in the US. Curious on the MC community thoughts. I keep hearing this statement in my head from back in late 2020 that was similar to “no new taxes for those making less than 400k.” Here we go, get the popcorn ready and buckle up.

Some things can make you so angry, you can’t put into words how you feel about it.

So, does this mean they’ll do away with the gas tax since both fund the same things?

Isn't that what fuel tax already is? The more you drive, the more you pay, the more they put in their pockets instead of fixing the roads. Only seems logical to add another tax because somehow there's never enough money. I bet *this* tax will go to what it's supposed to go to though.

Here in Florida we have the Florida turnpike. It was an alternative to I95. Only thing is it had a toll but if you were traveling to central fl it was worth it. They also had tolls going into south Dade County. You would stop, pay, and go. They then brought up a mileage tax. That didn't go anywhere. They originally said that the toll was only in place until the turnpike was paid off so no way. Then they thought, well it's inconvenient to stop and pay the toll so they put in an electronic sun pass. Still if you knew where it was you could bypass it by taking different routes. Then they said for your convenience we will put in speed lanes that will be charged to your account. To make a long story not so long you can't get on the highway in south Florida (turnpike or I95) without bring charged. The mileage tax that the citizens went against was shoved up our A$$ in the guise of "it'll make things easier for you".

    I only take back roads.

I just read about that. Man, I was mad.
This new administration is a bunch of lunatics (sorry to my liberal friends).

I'm worried about the next 4 years.

I don't see anything good on the horizon and lots of bad.

I try to forget it all and enjoy my time on my bike, and on the Indian forum.....

When I moved here in April of 2005 I was surrounded by cotton fields and the N/S & E/W corridors were never 2/3rds full. Now I'm surrounded by subdivisions and it takes 15minutes to break loose of traffic (if I head north to Tennessee) to fucking breathe and finally "ride". I know it's an old man rant, but...literally...EFF OFF.

So we sit here in 2021, we have more billionaires, yes billionaires than ever in this country and they still want to tax us to death. I just want enough nest egg to retire...comfortably.

Oh, also just read about how the Amazon drivers who have to pee in bottles and poop in trash bags so they can get all the packages dropped off in time. I am sure there is more to this story than we know.

So it seems these billionaires are not too concerned with giving back to their employees or hiring enough folks to get the job done safely and on time. It is never their fault, always blame others. When is enough, enough?

Mad, yes mad as hell and not sure what to do about it.

Mileage tax....two thumbs down for sure. Unfortunately, I think that is the tip of the ice berg or smoke and mirrors so we miss other things they are doing.

That’s funny.... it’s like in Ron Burgundy when Brian Fantana musks up with Sex Panther and says 60% of the time it work every time.

I get random drug tests in my profession.
I can think of 80 million voters that should be held to the same accountability.

Oh this one gets me pissed. I am taxed to death already...Oh wait I am taxed after death also.

I drive alot when at a job site, guess this will just finally alimate my job all together and put the burden on the supply houses. Which will then turn around and put the burden on the consumer. Which is just going to jack up prices more.

Looks like the tax man has just realised that you can't collect gas tax on e vehicles.
