    Hi y’all,

Been doing some research on the Vance and Hines 4” Twin Slash for my 2018 Scout.

Vance and Hines claims they do not fit Scouts 2017-onwards. RevZilla says it just requires some extra hard ware to mount. Apparently there was a change in the mounting bracket between 2016 and 2017.

Has anyone retrofitted these pipes onto a newer Scout?

The issue might be in that they added passenger pegs. I believe in 18. Might obstruct the mounting. But I could be wrong

hmmm, I’ll look closer but I thought there were pegs available before then.... the stock pipes are the same size as the Vance and Hines if I’m not mistaken.

Yes the pegs were available as an option. Later models were delivered with the pegs

I’ve fitted several scouts/bobbers with Vance and Hines slash cut slip ons. Don’t remember having issues with mounting hardware. But I could be wrong. I’ve always recommended those because of how easy it is to mount. If you have a local dealership I would talk to the service tech.

These are the ones I bought for my 2020 Bobber. Notice the fitment says it doesn’t fit a 2020, but later in the description and Q&A it states they do fit. Go figure...

Those are the ones I’ve seen. You shouldn’t have any issues. And I think they’re the best sounding exhaust for that bike

Yeah, those are the 3” version though which they do sell a model that directly fits your 2020 Bobber and my 2018 Scout.

The ones I’m debating are the 4”, which match the dimensions of the stock pipes.... they just look better with my big-ass saddle bags than the 3”.

From reading through RevZilla, it sounds like I just need a pair of M8 washers and nuts. They’re 20% off on RevZilla right now, might just grab em and see what I can do?

Whoops, sorry. Didn’t notice the size difference.

Before I bought mine, I called V&H at least 5 times trying to clarify fitment before I bought my pipes. They never answered the phone during their business hours. I’m assuming they may have been shut down for the Chi-Com virus, but one would think they could have left a recording stating as such or updated their website..... Very frustrating.

One thing I noticed about V&H, their install instructions could be a bit better. They had a torque spec called out for the clamp bolts that was way too much for the diameter of the bolt. Also the drawing for the mounting plate was hard to decipher as to which way it went on.

One would think a company that’s been in the business as long as they have would have a higher standard of documentation.

Other than that, I love my pipes. They look and sound awesome.

    @tolienbosheit

Welcome to the tribe and forum.

Here is what I faintly remember from about two years ago, but I do not have the V&Hs slip-ons, so maybe no help?

So I purchased a 2017 Indian Scout 60 in Oct 2017.Like many, I thought it was too quiet.

So I bought a set of stock Indian Scout slip-ons with the cat deleted.
I don't remember the year they came from, it was before 2017 though, and i think it was off a Scout 69. Just maybe that could make a difference too?

What I faintly remember is this, I believe my bike had only two mounting points for the slip-on's. The slip-on's I purchased had 3 mounting points. The front and back mounting points were the same on my bike, as the purchased slip-on's. The new to me slip-on's did have a middle mount point, so I just put a small bolt in said hole to keep them from vibrating together.

I hope this makes sense, they seemed to be just fine, just a different mounting setup?
And they do sound better than stock.

Found a picture from the web that might help....this would resemble the slip-on's I purchased, but not the exact pair. Note the 3 mounting points as I call them.
