I know there are a couple other musical types on here, and everyone enjoys a good tune. Or if it's a bad tune, the heckling is great!

So here's a little thing, the main rhythm riff I made up back in the '70s and the words just popped into my head last week so ... here it is ...

I like it, it has a good beat. The voice ( I'm assume is you) is a little rough. I mean that as a complement, I like Stevie over Jimmie because because of his rough voice. Wish I had talent like that but I cannot sing if my life depended on it. (Trust me)

I never claimed to be a singer. I was content to just be the bass player. The other guys in the band made me get in front of a mic and make a fool of myself. After a few years it got to be "normal" so ... people haven't died or run screaming from the gigs. Yet.

Oh there was singing too??? I stopped it so guess I'm forced to listen longer. Hope my dog doesn't bite me. She's in my lap as I'm typing. She left the last time. So here goes.

Back from listening more: Here's my thoughts for what it's worth. The strings need to be dialed down a tad. It does have a good beat. The voice, well honestly not sure I could do better but what I was hearing was someone holding back and not bellowing it out by singing from deep down. So it seemed strained. Pretty good but sing like you know how. Let it rip. I actually have two voices. One not many can even hear me. But if I let rip from down in the stomach and boom it out, they can hear me in the next county. If you've done any voice training I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. My singing was limited to church choirs so I'm not even close to knowing what I'm talking about.

Oh....the dog just laid there this time. No bite marks:D

I don't know that I would call it singing, really. More like cats yowling on the back fence. Yeah. I was holding it back because there was a sleepin' person upstairs. I think I mentioned that in the song itself ... ;) I'm still teachin' myself the ins and outs of recording. It's been about 20 years since I did any serious recording, so these first efforts are bound to be a bit rough around the edges. Thanks for the input. I like the constructive criticisms. After listening to the finished mp3 a few times, yeah. The guitar parts are just a tad too "in your face" during the so-called vocal parts. :D

Oh and glad there were no bites from the dog. lol

Here's another crappy ol' tune I re-worked over the weekend. Hey, it was snowing. What else am I gonna do?

So, from the "Lost Basement Recordings" collection (which some say should have remained lost) ...

    SS/DD

    Train to Nowhere

    Daydream Cowboy

    Let the heckling commence!

Where are the other scuzzball musicians on this board anyway? Somebody besides me must be out making a fool of themselves and recording ... or maybe it's just me. Well, anyway, here's an old BOC tune that I was playing with a few days ago. It's sounds okay to me, but I'm half deaf and can't carry a tune in a bucket so ....

Always been a fan of Grace and Co.

'72 wasn't bad either. Other than that whole "middleschool" thing that is. 6th grade kinda sucked, but the music rocked hard!

I tried my hand at recreating some of it, but since I don't have access to a Hammond/Leslie, the intro to this one was just sort of made up on the spot, then heavily modified in the editing program. I'll probably re-do it again sometime, but I'm workin on a different project right now. So, here's my rendition of Deep Purple's "Lazy" with all the warts on.

Oh, I see how this is gonna work. I'm gonna be over here tunin' guitars and basses and layin' down drum tracks, rhythm tracks, bass tracks, lead tracks and vocal tracks, mixin' 'em down into something that kinda resembles a tune and you guys are gonna post pre-made tunes.

Seems like I'm gettin' the short end of the stick. ;)

So, here's another old BOC tune I reworked. You know ... just for grins.

    I Love the Night

Hey Zip, it all sounds good to me. As long as your having a blast playing. I do most songs just because they are fun. Recognize the venue???

Nice! I'm not much of a bar hopper these days, so I don't recognize the venue. I think I've hit half a dozen bars over the past two decades. Looks like a lot of places I've been, though. ;) Looks like you guys are havin' a blast and rockin' the joint. If you're playin' out somewhere let me know and I may have to drop in and heckle. ;) Every band needs a good heckler now and then.

The Little Bear in Evergreen. A great place to ride to in the summer. Music starts at 4:00.
