Thinking of switching to Metzlers cruisetech tires. What kind of milage you guys getting on them back tires ?
I am hard on tires, so this may not be a good measure but I only got about 7900 out the front Cruisetech and about 9500 out of the rear. E4s a little better with about 12000 front and 15000 rear. E3s a little better than E4s. I will say I like the feel of the cruisetechs the best but I really liked the E4s also. PS - all the numbers are in miles...
Thanks Eeyore that’s a help. I’ve noticed most if not all tires new come with 5/32 rubber. Where as the E4 comes with 8/32 a significant difference. I get 15 to 16 also out of aE4. But being as I’m doing at least 2 sets a year if I switch it’s gonna put me too 3. The E4 is a good all around tire for the most part I can’t really complain.. sticks way better then the 3. But to give up a1/3 of the life for just a bit more stick is a bit much. For now I’m gonna stick with the 4. But thanks again for the feedback I’m due in a1000 miles or so for new rubber so I’ll leave well enough alone.
I like sticky tires and will trade life to get it but that is the sport bike part of me coming out...
Avon cobras stickiest out there IMO I loved them. And in the rain just unbelievable. But 9g and their scrap. I stayed with them till tire price’s prices got stupid. Carve canyons and stick like glue never break scraping all day.
I’ve gotten up to 16,500 on my E4,s down to 1/32. A much better tire then a 3 as far as sticking especially in the rain
Metzlers came on the bike. I got 9k out of my rear tire and 11k out of the front. I ride HARD, but don't do burnouts. As the old saying goes; your mileage may vary...
I’m thinking about it still. Will be my 3rd set this year in September and I’m thinking like every other tire I’ve tried I should probably just find out for myself.
Turns out i didn't wait. CruiseTecs mounted in Hopkinsville, KY. These folks stayed open late as I rolled through the rain. Chris (service) and Tommy (Tech) are FABULOUS people. Stop in and say, "Hi".
So, I've got over 500mi on the CruiseTecs and 200 of those were in the rain today. Without a doubt they're the most confidence inspiring tire in those conditions I've EVER ridden. It was serendipitous to have made that Hopkinsville stop. REALLY. The tires feel harder than the Dunlops. Almost like the sidewall is stiffer or like what you get on a car when you move up a rim size and by ratio, down in sidewall height. It's different. They turn, accelerate, and run well and that tread pattern is new to me. I like them alot, for now. Time will tell but I am very enthusiastic.
