Yup. The RM was totaled. But the engine and frame were OK so I bought it back. Going to put some real effort into a project with that one after I get my building put up before the snow flies. I'm sure I will be sharing that project on the forum when the time comes. I have a handshake deal on a Pursuit. It's in the shop getting repaired from a deer strike on the Hoka Hey this summer. The rider decided to buy another Pursuit while insurance took thier time deciding on what to do with the damaged bike. Insurance decided it was fixable so we came to an agreement to buy it. So hopefully within a few weeks I'll be back on an Indian!!!
Another update for you. Moonshine Store is well and good. Wife and I had lunch there a couple weeks ago. A Special Place!
It's getting closer. Have potential plans to do a 4K inaugeral ride to CA and back when I pick it up. Should give it a pretty good test.
I've had the Pursiut for about 5 weeks now and have 6,000 miles under me on it. I have to say that I am extremely happy with this bike. It is better than the Roadmaster in every way (except the awesome sound my Roadmaster had with the Freedom True Duals). I've had a few issues with electronics but nothing earth shattering. Mainly my driving lights are sporadic and seem to shut down at odd times. The extra horsepower is very noticeable and the bike is very responsive in sport mode. I've ridden it in 110 degree heat all the way down to 32. The fixed fairing adds stability in crosswinds. This thing is rock solid tracking down the road with no hands. I've added Klockwerks Kliphanger Bars and the 11" Klockwerks windshield. Both are good upgrades. The seat is 10X more comfortable than the Roadmaster's seat. While I still use and recomend a Wild Ass seat pad for the long hauls, The seat is very comfortable throughout a 500 mile day. I get a ton of comments on the bike at almost every stop. This bike has the potential of switching Goldwing riders over to the V-Twin world. I've talked to a few of them who are considering it. Here are a few pictures since I purchased it on September 23.
Awesome travelogue @Papa Lar - with some great views and landmarks along the way. She is well and truly broken in now . . .
5000 miles gave you a good idea what you have. Sounds like it's a winner. Converting GW's to this bike says something
I took out this fixed-faiting bike with more power and better tech and better suspension....at my local Indian dealer. I rode the Challenger for a good 45 minutes and after riding the Triumph.... I own one. 300 lbs lighter and a fantastic ride.....more bike for less money. I loved the Challenger --- if you had blindfolded me, I would have thought I was on a Victory. I hope Indian puts out a decent adv bike soon. I think they are missing a huge market.
The Triumph is a great bike. I think everyone should have a Adv Bike in thier stable. Not sure if Indian should go down that road or not. Harley's Pan America has some great potential but is plagued by mechanical and electrical issues according to the people I know who have them. But it would be interesting to see an Adv. bike on the FTR platform. Enjoy the Tiger!!
I absolutely loved my FTR. No engine I have had under me has compared to the power. I'd love to have it in a little larger adv bike. I took my FTR on plenty of dirt ...and some trails I should not have been on. It needed a "dirt mode". I do miss it and if money were no object I would have it forever. The Tiger is my attempt to find my "unicorn bike" that will do everything I want. Really, it's too heavy, and I should be on the Tiger 900, but I wanted good 2up accomodations. My wife did 4 hours straight and loved the ride. Thanks. P.s. I'll take a Challenger, if anyone is looking to give one away.
