When I’m riding I know and can feel I’m shifting into 2nd gear but when I go to accelerate it just revs like it’s in neutral. This only happens when shifting into 2nd and not all the time. Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes on my scout I have caught neutrals.
I guess even though we think we have lifted foot enough,I guess not.
So I have learnt to lift foot lever to the point where there is resistance then pull in clutch lever and it will always go into next gear, and more smoothly than just pulling in clutch then shift gear.
I have developed this way and never seem to get neutrals now.
So try that way of changing gear.

@putamayo I will try that. I’ve gotten into the habit of jerking up the clutch quickly to shift. I’ll try to be more careful and slow down.

Well after a little over a week of slowing down to switch gears, this issue seems to have been resolved. Glad it was just me having a twitchy foot instead of something mechanical.

Just as an FYI, I was catching neutral a lot with mine as well (2021 Bobber) and decided to tighten the shift linkage a bit. Seems to fix the problem without having to crank my foot up as hard as possible to avoid looking stupid. Might be worth checking out.

I've run into this on two different bikes. But I'm a new rider and I blame it on that.

It seems to me that shifting up into 2nd from 1st can be problematic on the Scout if the shift is not a bit more positive and determined than the rest of the gearbox. Try shifting with a bit more gusto. Think that will solve your problem. Did for me.

Also ensure your clutch cable is adjusted correctly,......even a slightly out of adjustment cable causes changing problems and many overlook this fact,.....
