I have the Kuryakyn Spear grips and horn cover. I'd like to finish the look with floorboards, brake pedal and shift peg, but some of the reviews for for the shifter, claim that it can break off while you're shifting. I have two questions: 1. Had anyone else heard of this? 2. What are the alternatives out there for a shift peg with a unique style? Kuryakyn Spear Shift Peg For Indian 2014-2018 | 10% ($4.00) Off! - RevZilla
That's a first... IMO, Kuryaken makes some pretty good stuff. I have the heel shifter. If you're kicking a shifter hard enough to break the peg, you have more serious problems. Or will...
Yeah, I was pretty surprised to read that, everything I've seen that they make seems pretty high quality.
I had one installed while at Sturgis back in 2016 (and the matching grips) and have put over 12000+ miles on it with no problems. It looks and works great!!
Good to know! Sometimes I wonder about the motivation of people who write bad reviews, or if it’s just that they ended up with a product that was one off. When something is really bad, word seems to get around pretty quickly.
Lots of Haters out there. I don't understand it. I changed my Brake Pedal on my Chief Dark Horse - because I don't like the Big Huge Pedal AND it kept me from using the front of my Floorboard. So I had the arm machined to accept the Shifter Knob, put it together and it works great - I have over 30,000 miles on it. But, MAN, you should have heard the comments - Negative about how it will fail, Ugly, Not Stock, Blah, Blah, Blah. Well, I like it and it works well so that's all I care about.
Even thou I went with Kuryakyn's Toe rest, running broads, brake pedal and under broad heal shifter. The stubby heal shifter (Indian brand) was the one for me, for when I put both feet down, my calf muscle just touches it. In the picture below, is just prior to in stalling the Kuryakyn heal shifter. The stock one is to short operate.
I ordered the grips with my new bars and intend to install the entire spear collection. Thanks for posting this up.
I ordered the boards and the pegs. I'm with you on those grips, if I like the other stuff just as much, I'll be pretty happy.
