I’m not an actively religious person but this virus is putting our first responders at great risk. We can get the proper PPE equipment ( I understand the need to medical community) causing a high probability of exposure. I have officers at home with children, pregnant wives etc. There is no consistency in testing first responders outside the guidelines for the general public. I’m working with legislatures to provide an emergency exception to loosen the testing symptoms for first responders. One officer on a crew suspected or positive takes out 4-5 officers. People are still crashing cars, drinking, fighting , etc. New York City, Chicago, and other large metro areas are seeing 15-20% reduction in staff. Some are having fatalities due to the virus.
I realize this is a new model being built and changed daily ( hourly) but police officers don’t seem like a protected priority. I must say our community is providing meals, cleaning supplies and moral support. Thanks for reading.BK

Well said. At a time like this, we've got to take care of those who take care of us. Prayers sent.

I was a cop when aids was becoming a concern. We had no clue how it was transmitted at first. I can relate.
