Update on a new FTR coupon that just hit. Details just came in and I am posting below. Obviously we would like to sell you an FTR (we have the largest allocation in the Midwest) but it should be something you can use at any dealer.

As you may have already noticed, FTR will bring new, incremental customers into your dealership and into the Indian Motorcycle family. As such, we are excited to provide a new ‘First to Own’ $500 PGA special offer to these first time Indian owners and enjoy Indian apparel and/or accessories, welcome them to the Indian Motorcycle family, and drive additional FTR PGA retail.

    HOW IT WORKS:

    • Eligible Models: FTR 1200 and FTR 1200 S
Excludes the FTR 1200 S Race Replica model due to the upgraded $1,500 Akrapovic exhaust

    • Eligible Units: Initial allocated units only (units you order in January 2019)
Must be registered by May 31, 2019 to qualify

    • Communication: You are responsible to work with your FTR customer(s) directly on this new offer
We do not plan to make this a consumer-facing offer, and instead are providing you tools to deliver the good news to customers

My dealer made me a deal and then layered "heroes" and "imrg" rebates on top.

1- What does "PGA" stand for?
2- I'm still scrood, because my deposit is on a Race Rep model.
3- Scrood twice, because I'm not a "first time Indian owner."

I was not happy when I learned the race paint scheme would set me back an extra grand. Who knew red and white paint could be so much more pricey than black and gray? The exhaust system was ugly but going to be replaced anyway. Then after announcing their prices Indian jacks up all FTR models by $500 except the race paint model which went up another grand. Justification being adding better sounding Akropovic slip-on mufflers. Seriously! - I thought they were ridiculously priced as a $1600 option. I don't want to pay that kind of extra money for something that will collect dust in my attic. Oh ye,s then there is the $250 tail light / turn signal modification that should have been stock anyway. But wait, you also need an $80 dollar bracket to install said tail light. I'm re-thinking doing business with a company that dangles the FTR1200 Custom for over a year then "allows" you to build a similar bike with over-priced options. Note to Indian: Build the bike you advertised, set a price and then stick to it!

For all of that Mate you are still sitting on a pigs back,........you think those prices are severe? You ain't seen nothing till you see Aussie and Kiwi pricings Pal!,.........you are getting off light really with the rest of the world subsidising the American market. It's happened since day one and not just with Indian, as Harley do it that way too. If you're looking for a good bike with cheap (er) accessories try Triumph,.......my friend Andy has a Triumph Thunderbird Storm and has bought OEM seats, exhausts etc at very friendly dollars out of the U.K. So there are alternatives out there,.........you just won't own an Indian, is all,.......
    Regards,
    Alpal

"Rant of the day" - that's funny and spot on. There is a difference in how you feel when an item you decided to buy turns out to be a buck or so cheaper versus $1000 more.

Know this feeling to a degree when the Scout first came out while they did sell at advertised List price they just smiled with the Dealer Fee add ons which having a deposit already up .. Had 2 choices could Opt out, but still have to spend the Deposit money on other things in House, or pay it , which I did as there was a long list of Buyers behind that would have gladly paid it to get their Ride Sooner .. Main Reason I will never buy another First Run again, although never really had plans on another New Ride anyway at this stage in life after getting the 2 that I own how I like them ..

Finally decided that Indian marketing on this release has sent me to another brand. Actually Two. I just love street trackers and the FTR was the best alternative to building one - if they had stayed true to the the FTR custom they originally marketed. First the extra grand for the race paint and finally the added grand for an exhaust I didn't like pushed me over the edge. My local dealer has been great but they are hamstrung by Indian's marketing methods. There will be a red motorcycle in the garage this spring - but it will be a Ducati Monster. I'll use the extra 5 grand to more than finish off the Sportster street tracker I'm building. I still like the looks and specs of the FTR - just not the way they've ratcheted up the price of the model I wanted. Best wishes to those who are willing to hang in there with Indian.
