Thanks Jay, very informative thread. Gives me a what if feeling, that maybe if I got the factory fairing then the wind would be okay, and I'd still be some pounds under the Scout weight. I also feel that standard placement of pegs (I would add boards) might help my posture compared to forward controls leaning me backwards. It's not on my immediate to-do list, but when I go by a shop that has one, I will try to test ride it.

Looking really good. Definitely watching all of this unfold. Keep the updates and photos coming.

As far as calculating the new capacity goes, I will admit that I am a bit of a numpty (for most mechanical stuff), so please forgive my naïveté. Couldn’t you just temporarily seal the bottom, fill the tank with water, once full - pour that into a measuring container and determine what volume you now have?

    See, I told you I was a numpty - now I have gone and proven it ! ! !

I'm getting it painted to match OEM 100th Anniversary as closely as possible.

    Looks beautiful!
We consistently get about 150 miles to a tank on our stock bikes, but I would have loved the larger tank option many times.

I've gotten used to 200 miles a tank on my Tiger.

What a nice job you have done on this project. The paintwork is terrific.

Now....give me a couple more inches of ground clearance and mid controls and I'll make it a Scout Scrambler.

Looking forward to seeing more pictures of the bike!

    Thanks for posting this project.

Thank you. FWIW, I also get 150+ when riding backroads and back highways. On regular Interstate highways the MPG suffers considerably over 65mph. At 80+ it really suffers and am lucky to make 135 miles.

This tank plus the taller gearing on the front pulley should help get close to 200 mile range if not achieve it.

That's very true. Same on my Triumph Tiger. Dramatically less fuel mileage at modern highway speeds. 50 mph yields my best mileage on my bikes.

Usually average 53 mpg on my Scout.

That is cool,.....I usually get 60 to 62 imperial MPG which equates to roughly 49 to 51.5 US MPG,..........and I use 95 or 98 octane fuel,.....and ride at an average 70 MPH

Maybe Polaris will see this and take a look at how good it looks and make the same adjustments. How silly of me. I just read this and realized that if Polaris read anything on forums they would know what improvements the people who buy their bikes would like to see.

    @Rocko

I have heard they do monitor the forums.

Now, the million-dollar question might be what forums.
