Y’all know you want to. All opinions welcome, but what do y’all honestly think about it? I think it was a smart move in some ways, as least as long as they don’t overproduce them.
It's a big hell no from me. But I hope it works for them. They need a positive boost. I would rather have an off the road FTR. Would that make it an OTR?
Never mind, just asked the internet>>>starting price of>>>>$17,000 I’ll pass. Good idea though, make it more around the $8,000-11,000 range and they would probably fly out of the dealerships. But $17,000 starting, I’d go get a Honda cheaper, probably better quality.. If I was into these sorts of motorcycles...
In looks comparison with the Indian and Honda, HD is ugly.. Looks like they tried to shrink down the fixed faring and install it. Definitely a pass for me.
Well I looked through there release and there is a whole bunch of stuff not mentioned. One of the main features is that many people out there don't buy adventure bike because of the height issue. They have and are the first to offer a suspension that sits lower by up to 2inchs when you come to a stop any where intersections etc. Then as soon as you move away it rises back to normal ride height. It has all modern electronic systems plus some that are not on any bike. Ok the price is in and around Ducati BMW KTM and the like.Styling is of course to each others taste on any motorcycling. Also they did say the the 1250 custom bike is due for release soon and my feeling is that there will be a replacement for the sporty due also, it may use this new motor or they might have a air cooled motor to directly face up to the new Chief. But like it or not (pan America) there is not doubt that HD have met the modern day expectations all round with is bike.
Go to YouTube look up TFLbike they tell you everything about the bike. What I don't understand here is a new bike same sort of pricing as the the new Chief ltd and is has a fully adjustable suspension.
I think it’s an impressive bit of engineering. The price point is high but HD has stated that chasing the budget minded is not in their business model.
I do like the idea of that suspension for an adventure bike. They need to do something to reinvent the company, but I was confused by them showing classic old bikes in the beginning of the video, but then the Pan Am. Are we’re supposed to believe that they should look like this now?
I think they found it on Mars. Good luck to them with it. If wealthy HD admirers is their market, all the best to them. It won't help them with sales and growth. They have their heads in the sand. Meanwhile Indian motorcycle sales in 2020 are improved from 2019, nearly at the 2017 record level. Australasia sales were up 44.5% and Western Europe 27% (total of 27 countries). I hope HD actually can bring something to the table that is affordable to most, looks great and packs a whole lot of awesome features, but, they probably won't.
I think if you really price up there immediate competition and look at comparable specs you will find they have priced right in the middle to me means they have meet the market.
Heh there is no way HD are going let Indian escape that easy. They have already shown there desire to come forward with new features(pan America) and you will see all that in there new 1250 custom, that in time will also play through coming models. Cast them adrift at your peril
I saw one last year at bike week. I thought it looked like a fun ride. Hope they have them for test rides this year.
I believe it's a smart move. The segment in motorcycling that has been growing is the off road stuff. As for the Harley sport or whatever they call the sportster replacement, you can thank Indian. Its basically a scout.
So chasing the bankrupcy court is?,....... I hope they do well because Indian and HD need each other to do well,.....Healthy competition will reward you with better bikes. If HD goes will Indian be like HD in 50 years time?,..... Alpal
If we have to keep buying, gear to make these bikes good then they are surely following HD. Seems to me that is exactly what the new Chief is all about. After market parts sales.
In my opinion the only thing the pan am has over the ftr is fuel capacity. Yes I know it has more horse power but 120 hp is good enough for me. Pricing? I believe the pan am starts at 17+. That's a stripped down bike with no storage. The ftr rally starts at 13,999. Anyways I hope to see an adventure version of the rally soon. I do think Harley made a smart move.
