Anyone using these saddlebags and what are your thoughts. I'm looking at some of these for my DH. Thanks.
Great lookin scoot! At first I thought the lower front valance was also painted copper/brown. Just saying that it would look good if it were. As I have never had leather bags on a bike, a question of ignorance -> What makes a leather saddle bag outstanding in your book? Are we talking leather quality? Keeping water out?

Leather quality is, as good or better, that OEM. Mounting hardware is far better than OEM, as long as your ok with taking 5 min. to remove the bags, as opposed to quick release. I was caught in a number of hard rain storms this summer with these bags and not a drop of water got inside the bags. Are they water proof? No, but darn near. Osprey will also make your bags any way that you want, as far as the lid design, chrome spots, conchos, etc. Overall, very happy with the Osprey bags. I bought these last fall after having to redye my distressed tan leather bags the second time. I wanted something that would hold up better in the elements than the '14 leather. I really like the two-tone look I have now so much, that I haven't put the '14 leather back on.

Thanks for the post and picture. You did what I wanted to do with a set of bags and that's chrome spots as the same interval as the seat. Also I wanted to do the fringe as these bags are going to go on the 2017 DH that I'm getting. What do they have for support inside. An answer to you @NickJ, the leather that Osprey is using on certain bags are Buffalo which means Water Buffalo and not Bison. I worked in the leather business for quite a few years and we did thousands of custom wallets, money clips, purses, biker wallets, etc and we used Water Buffalo exclusively which holds up very well over the years. I have the Original first leather money clip that we made and it's like new and at least 12+ years old. In fact I have a number of things that we made back then. People usually think that Buffalo is the same as Bison and it is not. Furthermore when someone calls it an antique look, it's just so happens that it depends on the location where the leather is cut from to show that particular grain.
Thanks for the compliment @Baldhead_J . Ghost, the inside of the bags are supported with a stiff plastic, on the back and sides. The lid is supported with the same plastic, but has three 1/2" wide steel bands, running from top to bottom.
Thank you very much. I'm trying to decide what to do on the top or just leave it plain. I'm also looking at gray piping as well. Decisions.
I just had an e-mail conversation with the owner of Osprey Limited and they are so busy that from order time to ship time is 8 weeks out. It looks like this will be a winter order for sure.
