    Hello All-

I’m a long time rider of a number of bikes from many makes and models.

Most recently, a 2014 Road King CVO. My wife had a 2016 scout but can no longer ride solo so I needed to move back to a full time two up bike.

After much looking and riding, the Roadmaster was really what we wanted. The classic look was so pleasing to both of us. So I purchased one this past Saturday. We are very excited to start taking some trips. 828D0A08-0FBC-44A9-A188-AE1BBEA0C49F.jpeg 213CE69B-3EAE-462D-8875-0CD3E7B85ABD.jpeg

No bike had 100% of the things we wanted but the Indian had most. The only real negative for me is the extreme heat on the legs. I did buy a Captain Itch thingy, it has not arrived yet. I also purchased stage 1 pipes and a round high flow air filter, also not arrived yet but hopefully these will help reduce the heat for July and August riding.

All in all, it is what is if you want to ride an air cooled V Twin of current displacements.

I am thinking about taking off the leg wind deflectors for summer riding, has anyone tried that?

    Thanks,

    Brian

    Welcome from Southern Illinois.
You won't regret your purchase. That should satisfy you and the wife on some long rides.

Welcome and congrats on your new purchase! One of the things I do to counter the heat ....well two actually- I use a sheepskin on the seat ....and in the summer I remove my lowers on the RM....the air flow difference is trermendous. Enjoy your new ride!

The Catalytic Converter is the main cause of the heat, Not only that when you force two exhaust pipes into one junction you create more heat. The best thing you can ever do for these bikes is to go to true duals, eliminate the cat and make sure you have mufflers that you can see completely through. The original pipes came with a worthless plug in the center that could easily be knocked out. Drawing more air through the filter helps very little but no harm is done there. Also a proper tune like from "fuel moto" can make a slight difference too. I have my Roadmaster set up as I have described and heat is no issue at all even in the summer.

Another welcome from Alabama. And I second what @geewago said, cat removal and a good fuel moto tune using a pvcx or the newer pv3 will do wonders for heat, with the side effects of a better running bike. Beautiful bike.
