Am almost reluctant to start this thread as #1 My 2017 Chieftain Dark Horse has not been Totaled Yet but will add if it gives any feelings that's it not right or the same ride it used to be I won't have it long .. First of All I love Indian and being part of the Indian Family so that will have first priority .. But am thinking it will nice to check some Rides Over Window Shopping while try to wait patiently .. Am 99% Sure Will Stick with American Iron if not Indian would either be a Harley or a slight chance of a Low Mileage Garage Queen Victory as I know their Reliablity & Power and with just a few years left riding no Question would out live me .. Just thought might be fun to add to this now and then at Rides I looked at and what i thought but 90% of the time will probably end up it's not for me .. To keep me from getting totally bored as I'm actually not supposed to Ride at all right now with my Right Thigh being one Massive bruise where I landed off the Bike that could get nasty if don't keep an eye on it ..

I don't know how quick you want to replace the bike but maybe you could wait to see the new offerings Indian will intro soon. Might be a game changer.

Sorry to hear about your situation, Jay. Regardless of what you decide about whether or not to ride Indian or not, do what your doctor says about healing. Speaking from personal experience...I was rear-ended last September and it totaled the bike and almost ended ME. I also had terrible bruising (and a lot more) and my right thigh was extremely numb (i.e. no stability when standing). The numbness still hasn't gone away and found out the femoral nerve was damaged with little to no chance of healing...this means NO 2-wheelers in my future! After 50+ years of riding, I didn't want to "walk" away, so decided I'd give a trike a look. Anyway, I hope you have a full recovery and can make it back on 2 wheels, but if not, look at your alternatives...all the best with your recovery.

Jay -- glad to see your accident' hasn't dimmed your desire to ride.

If I leave Indian it'll be for the new Yamaha Venture, I think. Negatively impressed with the new Goldwings. Don't fit in with the gregarious, badged-up Harley culture. Biggest drawback to the Yamaha for me is the local dealer. Very different approach to the same purpose as my RM. But no temptation as yet to leave Indian.

I'll be curious to follow your "process", Jay. List the bikes you investigate and give us your impressions. I went through a few BEFORE my accident and was CERTAIN I was going to buy a Roadglide(@Bobby Jesus was SUPER helpful), and when I was coming out of paralysis I chose the #ChiefGlide, as you know.

Might well be a game changer but you're still going to put a lot of miles on your own bike before you ever get to ride the new one, if the FTR release is anything to go by.

What I meant was: Even if Indian show a new bike in August it is still going to be a long time before it is available on the shop floor. You will need still need something to ride till then.

Interesting answers all and everyone worth reading .. Yes I do have my Dyna even took it for a short ride since got home and it does run like New .. I don't like leaving a bike sitting too long without giving at least a 25 mile run .. As stated I more than likely will get another Indian but doesn't cost anything to look around .. Right now am visiting my daughter and sister so not doing any looking in that area but promise will be some interesting reviews to come in the near future but absolutely no commitments .. I will add have found a 2011 Victory Cross Country with 21,000 miles that looks near showroom and know it's been well cared for and could get it for about 1/3 what a New Indian would cost .. I know from experience that 2011-2013 were Victory's Finest Years owning a 2012 for 80,000 trouble free Miles but do have concerns on parts if needed but do have one of the finest Victory wrenches around 20 miles away from home.. But still love Indian and there is just something sweet about owning a New One and Breaking it in and Making it your own with your personal style of decisions of doing so ...

If I do get a New Indian will probably be my choice .. As much as I love the Classic Look getting tired of what a PITA it is to Clean my Wheels and even inspect my Brake Pads .. Even adding Air to the tire can get you cussing ..

Sorry to hear that you was in a accident. I hope all is or will become back to normal soon. As far as bikes you ride that is all that counts in my books but please even if you don't choose a Indian don't be a stranger over here.
