Well got her running, carb adjusted but still in the first three gears when I got on it a little she would cough, sputter and just run bad till you throttled down. Damn drag pipes! They are made for the drag strip, but I’m a poor man, so got to come up with a cheap repair. Friend that is a shovel guru said put small eye-bolts in the rear of the exhaust for a small amount of back pressure.
Started with the eye bolts and it helped quite a bit, moved on to a small washer-boot and nut set and.........DAMN!!! girl got power out the ass..

$15.00 at Menards (Iowa Lowe’s) and one hour of my time and the gal will haul the mail.
Don’t get me wrong, new bikes and modern technology is awesome. But I can’t work on it.
This shovel (old skool technology), yeah right up my alley. Wish I’d have bought one sooner.
Now if I can figure the trick to kicking her over! Me, and three others have tried to no avail. There has to be a trick...lol
Come on Sempai’s, I’m you Kohai.
Cause I’m sure I’m going to need to figure this old gal out sooner or later.

You bet! Loving this ole skool bike more and more everyday.
The Indian with the now permanent sidecar is for shopping, day trips with the boys and long extended vacations. But the shovel is now my daily rider.
It’s always nice to have a wife and side chick ( please don’t tell my ole lady)....lol

Man what you talking about. Friday this garage looked like a tornado or two went through with a vengeance. Took most of Friday to clean it and install the sidecar after. Hope to never have it that bad again.

Was having brake issues, decided to disassemble the front and rear calipers to see what’s up. Pads are in great shape but oil/brake dust build up. Brake clean and elbow grease and as good as new.

Sent a dream sheet to a HD swap meet guy about 20 miles away. He has a storefront that is by appointment and once every couple of months he opens for the weekend. HD’s from all around cruise thru town heading to him.
Hope he has some of what’s on my list.
    Please don’t tell the wife!!!!

Night before last drained the tranny fluid and checked it (no metal). Refilled with clean oil.

Rebuilt the Hypercharger last night along with lubricating the clutch and throttle cables and adjusting both cables. Clutch was too damn tight and the throttle was too loose.

Tonight’s do list; check the valve lifters, timing and points setting.

Hopefully I will be able to kickstart her tomorrow morning.

I love my Indian but there’s really nothing other than cosmetics that I can do to her. this ole school HD is right up my alley. No real electronics, no plastic, just iron! Only need a service book, YouTube, torque wrench and basic tools.
    LIFES GOOD

I feel exactly the same. There’s a lot of fun in having a simple bike that you can work on yourself. I love my Indians, but my H-D is like an AK-47, no finesse, just a plain blocky gadget that gets it done.

Got up and came out to the garage to see if she’d give me some love by allowing me to kick her over. She gave love alright, foot slipped and the kicker kicked the back of my calve! Damn that hurt...
There’s a trick to this ole girl, I just haven’t figured it out. Women and their secrets!
Anyways, all the work over the past few days has paid off. She’s running very well, had a shock set incorrectly on the left side but that was a easy adjustment.
Did a little work to the Serenity/Sidecar while I was out in the garage. Be cleaning her up tonight and tomorrow, she’s a, “Dirty Girl”! And probably a little jealous cause I’ve been spending so much time with the HD....
