(Where's the Informative Button?) Hi Idle up, 50 miles and you're looking? You must be heavy on the throttle Bud, cos I get 150 miles to the tank and only start looking for a servo around 120 - 130 miles. Oh yes, our little sisters are 1131 and just under 1000 cc's in size for the Sixty. 1300 cc's is even bigger than the Octane,.... Catch Ya Buddy, Alpal
Yeah you know - us old guys are careful - I'm getting around 150 as well, but I live in the boondocks and no wall to wall stations out here - Ride safe guys!
Alpal, it is a simple RPM based shift light. I use Dynatek ignition's Dyna Shift Minder System (DSM) to trigger a light at the RPM I set it at. Its a simple small set up I have used on several bikes. It is the little blue/black box in the under seat area of some of my pictures. The LED shift light can be seen to the left of the speedometer, its one I bought but I should have made my own like I have done in the past.
Just got back from 10,000 mile tour on a Scout. Have done about 25,000 miles of touring since I bought it in 2015. A larger tank would be nice as I tow a trailer just to carry extra gas tanks. Unfortunately the trailer weight has worn out the rear wheel bearing and sprocket bearings. Just try finding Indian parts on short notice as you tour. I did about 1000 miles of detour chasing after parts and installation. A larger tank would allow me to eliminate the trailer. What is the timeline and cost on a 5 gallon grey tank?
There was a guy on the other forum, he may have been on here too, but he builds bigger tanks for the Scout. I'll have a hunt round and see if I can find out who he is again. He is based in the States. Where abouts are you based Buddy? Alpal
Hey! @Thomsodm* Look no further! The guy you need to talk to is here in this thread. Start at the top and keep reading. Lots to learn and you'll find him as you read through. Have fun on that Scout Buddy! And should you do something with the guy, please be sure to post so the rest of us can learn as well,....on ya Buddy,..... Alpal
Thanks for the reply Samperry007. Appreciated. And also a pity because I believe that there is a need for a larger tank on the Scout and that a good number of Scout owners would avail themselves of your services. Alpal
I am currently looking for another company to work with and have these tanks manufactured or to sell the design to.
Sam,....that has to be the best Christmas present I've had in years! Even though you are obviously still in the planning stages. Please grab your order book and place my name at the top of the list for the first one off the assembly line. I'm happy with primer grey paint but if you are also painting to order? Indian Red please!! Alpal PS,......I'm serious,......I want one.
You might ask @samperry007 if he'll sell you a single-use licensed design document and then take it to your local custom or machine shop. That would get you there. Personally, I think @samperry007 could make some lot doing this with the puny FTR tanks (if you could find all 6 people that have bought them).
