Very bizarre move on Indian's part if this turns out to be a true spy photo. It's not hideous and I understand that taste is entirely subjective but I sincerely cannot comprehend how anybody on the design team at Indian could park that next to any existing Chieftain model and see an improvement. The simplification of the tail lights, bags, overall trim pieces, and fairing, it's all a step backward in terms of elegance, attention to detail, and a significant departure from classic Indian styling cues.
On the other hand, I can almost imagine some guy in the corner of a design meeting going "Guys, I have an idea, this is how we win back the Victory diehards".
Looks a lot like a street glide.
It genuinely does. And I worry that it may be intentional.
Definitely hoping that these turn out to be false spy shots.
Very Much So .. Not sure where some thinks it looks like a Victory ..
That’s not my idea of How an Indian should look. Not liking this
Remember, this is Polaris. Not known for for much more than cutting corners. That was my fear from the beginning and one reason I got my 16 RM when I did. Figured the first few years of production would be the best. And it might be just more being bought now but the 17 and 18 models seem to have many more problems. I suspect the cost cutting has already started. That's not a good thing. But I'm sure I'm bias toward my 16 too so it might just be only in my head.
You are 100% right. I hope this is either fake or a lighter chieftain with a more powerful engine. We shall see.
I’m thinking it’s some one off done by a shop.
My immediate thought, too -- at least "It looks like a Harley." Maybe it's a head fake.
Yeees of little faith! Rest your hearts and be patient! - John
In case you missed what John said, it translates to " pull your head in and wait!!!",...,.....See?! Burtlanders have their uses,.....we can be translators,.....
I don't think it looks much different from any of the other big V Twin variations. It's not a step forward or back. It's just another slightly different option for folks to choose from.
We don't need a huge upgrade to the existing models this year as long as we get a great introduction for the new FTR. Indian can't change everything at once. If we see something new every couple of years and upgrades to existing models every few years, Indian will be doing very well.
I have it on good authority that based on some things in the pic, more likely than not, it’s legit.
Let’s not jump to conclusions until they actually come out and can be demo’d.
Agreed,....seeing is believing,.....and we ain't seen nothing yet,.......
A few clues this is legit.
1) warning sticker on gas tank.
2) foam shipping wrap on front crash bar.
3) )Metal shipping pallet on ground behind bike. Indicates this bike was recently unloaded.
4) Tail light not assembled.
5) Mirrors and windshield not yet installed.
6). Foam still on rear seat tang protect fender.
The Bike appears to have been delivered and awaiting assembly.
