    Hi Guys,
have any of you avid Scout fans had trouble with the fuel line from the tank to the fuel rail popping off? This has happened to me twice now in a week. It's popping off at the fuel tank connection. I have spoken to @muz as he had a problem with his but it was at the other end under the tank on the right hand side side between the cylinders.

I checked the parts book and the part number is 5415871 and roughly $70 00 US. has anyone had this problem and what didi you do to fix it? I will be taking the tank off tomorrow so may even come up with a solution myself,.....

    Thanks in advance,
    Alpal
( See you Guys!!!!!,...I DO still ride!:p:D:rolleyes:;))

Ok so I took the fuel tank off again and checked the connector to the tank and one of the two clip surfaces that clip over the little ledge of the fuel tube from the pump looks a little burred. I am picking these connectors do not like being taken off too many times.

So I began a hunt for a connector or the complete fuel line. One through an NZ Dealer is 6 to 8 weeks away and will cost approx $210 plus a little freight..........Bummer,.....

There is a guy on Ebay selling them, ( Part Number 5415871. Indian Scout fuel line ), he has 32 of them for sale but does not ship to New Zealand.

I did find some connectors that look similar on Amazon so I thought I would order one of them once I figured out the size of the fuel line. They are roughly $18 Kiwi plus $8.00 freight and if it fits it is a lot cheaper than either the Kiwi or the US fuel line.

If that fails then I may have to ask for a helping hand from someone on the forum to buy the Ebay one and pop it in a padded bag and send to me. in the post I would pay the total cost prior to the item being sent.

Anyway that is where I'm at,.....and not brave enough to take the bike out in case,.........I don't want to be 40 miles up a back road and have it pop off again.

Hi @SixShooter ,......You're a pal!,....... A Zip tie will not work as the tube out of the pump is just a straight tube so a hose with a zip tie would slide right off.

I did check Amazon ( we use the same Amazon and Ebay as you do ) but they say they have no stock and do not know when they will have more. Amazon do sell just the connector ends so I was thinking of getting two of them.

Ebay is the only place that has them at a reasonable price. I checked out the guy in the link you sent but in converting the Euro to Kiwi dollars it gets pretty expensive. I appreciate your kind offer to send one over for me and I will take you up on that. We can do the same as last time, yeah?,........I will PM you and we can work out the details.

Again, thanks for your help Buddy,.....It really is appreciated.
    Regards,
    Alpal

I can hear my bike humming with anticipation already!!:p:p:p,.....

And as I said to you earlier,.....How is it that this guy has 30 odd of these fuel lines for sale and yet Indian New Zealand and Australia have them on a 6 to 8 weeks delay being on backorder????? I wonder if they are on backorder in the States too?,.......Again,.....How come he has so many?,.....But hey,.....the more important thing is that I have one coming!!!

I took a ride today with my brand new Mustang seat & backrest! That must be why I'm so amicable today, LOL. It's no Corbin- but a lot better (Bigger!) than stock.

many many years ago I decided the Intruder needed a better seat so I went hunting. The Harley dealer in Wellington had a Savage on the lot with a Corbins seat fitted so I went for a test ride. I found it to be a very hard sit after a while so butt unseated I ordered a Mustang seat from the States and it's been on Gertruda ever since,.....Totally love its width and its nice wide pillion seat also,.......I think I still have the OEM seat up in the rafters somewhere,.....

An update: @SixShooter has a hose on its way to me or will have once he receives it and I have ordered the two connectors from Amazon and they should arrive around the 7th October,.....They work out to be $45.00 Kiwi so once I check to see that they fit the Scout I will have a spare fuel line either for me down the track or for someone in Burtland who is experiencing the same trouble as me. In case anyone is interested the description of the connectors is as follows:

X AUTOHAUX 2pcs Fuel Line Quick Connect 90 Degree Push-On Single Barb Fuel Hose Adapter Connector for 5/16 to 5/16 Rubber Tubing

There are some with multiple barbs if that's what you prefer.

    Hi @Alpal
I'm late on this and it sounds like you have it licked....but FWIW....
Back in '16, I snapped one of those fittings on my Scout while trying to install the Ness intake. It took about 1 month to get it. Those fittings are a bit tricky...highly inflexible.... and it's a tight fit (for my hands)....I ended up buying a few pairs of odd angled long needle nose pliers to be able to press the release button on the fitting with minimal tank lift, to avoid taking it too far out of alignment in order.

    Good luck !

I know exactly what you mean Bud. I got rid of the metal band on the outer end of the line and fitted a hose clamp,....tTo remove the tank I undo the hose clamp, lift the tank and gently extract the hose, disconnect the wiring and remove the tank,.....hen when I refit the tank I fit the hose to the tank first and feed it under the frame. It's fiddly but I get there. I also sometimes put the hose in place then fit the tank but that way usually ends up with skin missing off the back of my hands and the neighbour learning a few swear words in both Persian and English!:mad::mad:,.....but one way or another, we get there.:cool::cool:,.....

Good news on the Scout fuel line problem,......I received the outer connectors a week or two back and finally found a replacement for the inner connector which arrived last Tuesday. So I tested it on the tank and man! Does it click on good and tight and loud!,....unlike the OEM connector that always sounded weak and flimsy when you pushed it on,......So yeah, the Scout is up and running again!:):):),.....

BUT!:(:(:(,.....not so the fuel line @SixShooter was getting for me,......Good old USPS have lit up the skies with their incompetence and are sending the hose Sixshooter sent me around half the Distribution Centres in Florida,......The Post Office most times will not pick up the phone and when they do they promise to ring Scott back and never do. I have their number so will be ringing myself come Monday morning,.....no,.....Tuesday morning as it will be Sunday over there tomorrow. I tried emailing and the chat service but it appears it only works if you are in the States. I have had trouble with USPS before but never on this scale,........I endeavour to remain positive,.....

No wonder. USPS was not delivering to New Zealand and many countries in the world during Covid lockdowns . They are only getting back up and running with very little service deliveries globally currently. You might find it gets sent back to sender.
