Hello from Kansas. How many folks here are current with content on IMC? I have spent enough time over there over the past couple of years to pretty much know what has been well and truly handled vs what seems to be new or developing information. That is the only way I have known what to respond to, what to re-direct, what to ignore. I am a brand new baby over here in terms of the community, although I would expect it to be the same as the other forum - perhaps not a 100% accurate assumption though.
I suppose I will have to spend a lot of time reading here to see what sorts of technical questions might be of benefit, what projects might be of interest, what might be considered junk. I do rebuilds, body and paint, performance mods, and numerous experiments with my many many Indian (toys), err, bikes that is.

I have a new Roadmaster/Champion trike rebuild here... I am really liking the build quality of the kit. I have a couple extra 116 BBK engines to play with now, several builds waiting on frame parts, some custom paint jobs. Plenty of stuff to keep me out of trouble and never will get bored.

Mouths began to drool when you mentioned "extra" 116BBKs.

Can't have too many fun projects! Plenty of extra bikes, plenty of extra parts to play with.

Not as many takes on here about all the various in's & outs of IMC mechanics and modifications as there are over there. Over there it's just like killing rats though. The same ole questions about how to check the oil, tire pressure, belt squeeling and 15 other things just keep coming up over and over.

I feel like I'm a qualified Scout mechanic, because I have adjusted a clutch cable, installed a new battery and straightened out a crash bar with my powerful foot.

I've done quite a bit more on the 111's still have lot's to learn. One reason I bought the big service manual. It might come in handy down the road.

There's plenty of knowledgeable fellows on here though. And of course if you want high class expertise wisdom just ask ALPAL. He's got something to say about everything.

I concur on the repetition aspect... After awhile you can have trouble finding the forest for the trees. I do like it a lot when brand new things come up and I get to learn new strategies and details. Often enough I also get to help others resolve problems... Love it when the right inspiration comes for getting to the solutions. I have more bikes and projects in my shop in part because of a desire to learn more.

I have a strategy overall. Plus the luxury of having some resources and no one to tell me no. Strategy is to buy up all the bargains I can find... That includes dealer inventories when they close up shop (4 last year). It also includes all the reasonably priced spares from the dismantlers that I can find. Then collecting a couple dozen damaged bikes and we end up with a pretty great toybox in which to play with only a fraction of the million dollar price tag.

A big part of strategy here is job creation and training. I work in a very small town that lacks much of an economy. There are a lot of people needing help, housing, guidance and direction, hope. I am able to make some big impacts here with relatively small resources. I run the remnants of a once substantial manufacturing company (now bankrupt), but do it without all the high-overhead that sunk it in the first place. It now employs 4 to 6 people in a much reduced footprint. Soul Movers Cycles is my newest venture dealing with repair/maintenance/sales of Indian bikes.

Testimonial for Soul Movers Cycles: Best shop and service I've ever had done on a Scoot. Great folks and unreal amount of knowledge.
