B28024F2-F6AC-4AA7-BD0E-130022090628.png I fell upon this screaming Eagle a 2005 with 21,000 miles. One owner dealer maintenance since new. And it’s yellow ! I’m basically not a yellow person to begin with but when this bike came out in 2005 I was like man I really like that. Except there’s no way I’m giving you $30,000 for one. Spoke with a buddy of mine from Chicago been a salesman at Harley since 1990 he said I can get $12,500 for that bike all day no problem. I cut a deal over the phone for 8000 cash. I’m going to Flagstaff in about 20 minutes 160 miles from here and a little bit colder for sure to take a look at this if it’s as clean as the picture I’m riding it home. 20,000 mile service was just done on it all new brakes and tires all the way around

You’ll be riding for an hour while the guys with black motorcycles will still be looking for theirs in the parking lot….:)

With that low mileage best check the Cam Tensioners and while in the Cam Chest upgrade to a Good Cam and replace the Inner Cam Bearings and it should last a long long time ..

Cam tensioners are my only concern with this motor. This motor and all the screaming eagle motors for 2004 five and six All had stroker cranks in them. It’s basically an 88 inch stroker motor for those years and they actually built them right aside from the spring tensioners. They say they’re quicker and much more reliable than the 110 motor that followed this for the screaming eagles.
It was 168 miles back to the house I did it in two hours flat so I ran it through its paces coming home for sure and it runs out pretty nice. But typical of every bat wing Fairing Harley that I’ve owned through the years right about 109 it starts to get a little Squirrley so we just don’t go that fast LOL I’ve already lived through that nightmare once. But let me be perfectly honest this thing does not compare to my Indian in ride handling or power in any way shape or form it’s my around towner And that’s it.

Upgrade the cam plate/oil pump to the S&S one with hydraulic tensioners. That way you'll never have to worry about it. I do not recommend the Harley hybrid update kit. If the spring tensioners fail you'll probably grenade the motor.

Hey @Ny Mike, what is your plan with this beast?

I got the impression from the first post that it might be a flip job to make a greenback or two, but not sure now.

Then follows a lot of good advice about how to make it last a lifetime with some great Cam updates.

None of my business of course, just interested . . .

Looks ummm bright. like hi vis. ya got to lov it though.
As for cam tensioners, unless I was doing high mileage I would simply take off push rod covers cut the push rods fit a new set of adjustable push rods save all the top end work and then just check them say 1 a year.not hard off with the cover front easily seen rear with dentist mirror you can see the rear one and if need be replace this is the most cost effective repair. If doing big miles the ss replacement all up cam and oil pump is the way to go but be ready to pay big bucks for that.

7CC91EE8-51AD-4FD1-A4EA-D8BCC1533D03.jpeg JuanPoopalot Well I put another few hundred on it yesterday. But changed the look first thing yesterday morning. Had a shorter tinted windshield on a shelf and peeled the tourpak off. Much nicer look. Hydraulic Cam-tensioners are most definitely gonna have to happen regardless of whether I flip this or not. I gotta say it runs out pretty nice has a little snap to it.As I said if I keep it and I just mite LOL it will make a nice round town Hot Rod.

I'm with you I think Harley do good paint colors and design with all there bike have done for years. the paint finish is top's as well. Indian bit bland to be true. probably get slammed for saying that.

On the contrary. I think most would choose Harley's paint shop over Indian's.
