Hey! I'm brand new to the forums (as of tonight).

    Bit about myself:

I'm from the Midwest (Missouri), but have lived in Florida for the past 9 years. I have owned two other bikes in the past. The first bike I ever owned was a 1983 Honda VF750f Interceptor back in 2009 when I lived in California for a year. Was probably too powerful to be my first ever bike, but, it was old and could be dinged around and dropped and still keep going. I had that for about a year and put a few thousand miles on it.

Then, when I moved to Florida, I sold it to a collector on Ebay and bought myself a 2005 Triumph Daytona 650. I absolutely LOVED that bike. It fit everything I wanted in what I felt was a step up from learning on a bike--it was lighter than the Honda, more nimble, had a wonderful whining sound when revved, was extremely stylish, turned heads wherever it went (That was the only year they made the 650 and also the only year I felt like the bike style truly looked like a hornet in the "face). I had that from 2010 to 2013 and put well over 15,000 miles on it. I even once drove it from central Florida up to Washington, D.C. and back. Yes, on a sports bike. You bet your behind I was sore after that trip, but I didn't care. I loved being on that thing.

Unfortunately, in March of 2013, right after attending the Daytona 200 and having the opportunity to take it on a couple of laps around the track (not in the race--just as a VIP thing before the race started), I got in an accident on the way home. Someone was making an illegal U-turn into oncoming traffic, and before I knew what was happening, they were in front of me. I didn't even have time to blink or react before I hit one side of the front end of their car and went sailing over their hood. I forgot how many feet I flew, but I tumbled for what felt like forever. I wound up getting away with only a fractured right arm, a small amount of road rash, and a left kneecap split in half. The knee was pretty hard to recover from, because I had to be in a full leg cast for quite a while, and when I was finally able to take it off, I couldn't bend my leg without excruciating pain, due to those muscles connected to my knee not having been stretched for so long.

NEhoo, I gave up on the biking thing for a while just so I could properly regain my physical strength and courage to get back on. I met a wonderful woman about 4 months after the accident who eventually became my wife. She thus far has never known me as a biker, and has no experience biking herself. However, I think I talked about how much I loved the experience with my Triumph so much to her that she eventually realized it was a passion of mine, and one year for Christmas (I believe it was 2015 or 2016), she rented me a Triumph Bonneville for a weekend, and we had a blast on it.

That experience (along with getting older and beginning to realize my body's limitations) is what made me start considering a non-sport bike. I began to fall in love with the cafe racer/bobber style of bikes and started doing as much research as I could on them. I also started saving some money with the eventual goal of getting back on a bike. Recently, I discovered Indian's Scout Bobber line they just introduced about a year and a half back, and I immediately fell in love. It had that look and feel I wanted in my next bike. I wanted to feel like I was just in a 1950's biker movie with James Dean or Steve McQueen, and Indian's Bobber style just felt like that for me.

Well, long story long, I went out searching for one of my own and came across a 2018 Indian Scout Bobber up in Iowa that I liked. It only had 108 miles on it (so, practically brand new) and the previous owner was the dealership's owner. I had the money saved up over the past 5 years to buy it outright along with some accessories I felt would most likely be needed based on all the research and reviews I read/watched on it (new seat, different exhaust, different headlight, etc.).

So, it's paid for... But, since it's up in Iowa and I'm down in Florda, I gotta wait a a bit of time for it to be shipped before it's in my garage. I can't wait though! And, I'm happy to join the Indian Tribe. Polaris seems to be really doing a great job with what they're doing to pull in people of my age range (30-40) who may have had more of a background in sport bikes. This is transitioning me over into the cruiser world, and I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase--and I haven't even touched it.

Full disclosure, I did go to a local Indian store down here and test drive a Bobber first before purchasing the one in another state. So, I'm not coming into it blind....haha!

Also, I'm coming from another prominent Indian motorcycle forum which seems to have some pretty heavy-handed moderators. I suggested they shouldn't be so heavy-handed (or accuse forum members of behavior they weren't actually guilty of), and was immediately banned.....which essentially proved my point. I truly hope whoever's in charge of this site isn't of the same persuasion. I understand the "no political talk" and "don't post porn" rules, and have never been guilty of that sort of behavior on any forum I've ever visited. However, it seems some people get on huge power trips if they have a "mod button" and will ban for any reason they deem necessary--even if it doesn't fall under breaking forum rules. That's what I'm hoping to avoid. Feel free to check every single one of my posts on the other forum (there were less than 20) and see if there was a single one that contained political speak, porn, hate speech, or whatever else anyone can come up with for pissing off an average person. You won't find it. I posted an intro the same as this one, asked a few questions, and called out a forum moderator for being heavy handed and was immediately banned.

I'm very interested to see what the leadership around these parts are like.

Thanks. Seems like there are a few good people over there, but when the people in charge are the ones guarding the gates and they're not so great....it sort of ruins the experience.

I pick up my Bobber tomorrow morning, so none of that nonsense can dampen my excitement! haha
