As far as weather in the US, San Diego would get my vote. Taking into account other factors, you couldn’t get me to move there for love, money or marbles.

Don't think anyplace does not have drawbacks .. San Diego definitely has the best Temps year round except Hawaii, although a few might think it's too hot there, but with the breezes I would love it there except your riding would be very limited even on the Big Island and far too expensive for my budget .. But do remember the Santa Anna Winds during Basic in San Diego .. I think I made a Good Choice with North Central FL .. 60 Miles from the Atlantic, 70 miles from the Gulf but far enough inland don't get the severe impact of a Hurricane you do on either coast .. Mild Traffic here compared to the Coastlines and Tourist Trap Areas of FL .. Have Back Roads in my area can travel 100 miles and count less cars than you have fingers.. No State Income Tax and Homestead Exemption on Property Tax has made my Retirement Money last far longer than would have most anywhere else except very rural areas that would not have been happy with, when my roots are here in FL for 5 generations back that I can trace from both sides ..

It does not. I've asked myself the same question. Pacific Coast has earthquakes and idiots south to north and wildfires south and central and mudslides north. All across the northern states there are blizzards. High plains has tornados. Southwest has blistering heat and flash floods. Gulf and Atlantic Coasts have hurricanes. New England has freezes. I believe I have read that the US has more kinds of violent natural disasters than any place on earth.

Maybe northern Louisiana/Mississippi/Alabama/Georgia, where the winters aren't extreme?

I’ll second Wickenburg. Dad used to own the KOA there. I lived there for almost 2 yrs before moving back to Ohio to help my mom.

Austin used to be great until those Californians moved in and started turning it into California.

Don't ever say where the good places are. Everyone and their brother will flock there. Most people are followers not leaders. I know where that place is and will never ever say, It's already getting too many there.

I've got a friend that lives there. I tease him by referring to San Diego as Northern Mexico.

I'll stick with Colorado. Sure we have blizzards, avalanches and rock slides, tornadoes, extreme hail, etc. but after 40 years here, I'm kind of used to those. Besides, the riding here is excellent for at least half a year every year. I'll pass on the hurricanes and earthquakes.

According to this site, San Diego is not only the best city for weather year-round, but number one on the planet.

10 Cities With Best Weather Year Round - The Mysterious World

(weather wise to be sure: to Thumper's point I'm sure there are many other factors which make it unbearable for those of us who love the freedom and affordable living.)

I see Sydney Australia in the list. I can vouch for that place after spending three odd years there, even after living through the hailstorm that made label beaters very rich with the amount of claims lodged with insurance company's. What a storm! But I still love Sydney,......
