Anyone heard any rumors about the horsepower spec on the FTR 1200? Someone told me that the demo truck driver said that it will be in the 120 hp range. That seems really high to me.
Both of these articles claim 120 HP. 2019 Indian FTR 1200 S and FTR 1200 First Look (12 Fast Facts) The Indian FTR 1200 revealed: specs, cost and images
120 at the Crank which at the Wheel will be more like 100 HP or slightly above .. Far as I know all makes give Crank HP , not what you get at the Wheel ..
As is always the case it won't be long before a cheap and easy to install Stage 1 kit is available that brings measured wheel horsepower up to around 115 while simultaneously dropping 15 or 20 lbs in emissions hardware. A properly uncorked FTR 1200 will have a power to weight ratio of 4.25:1. The same power to weight ratio as a 1200 bhp Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport. Which I fully understand is a silly comparison to make and that there are countless motorcycles in the sport segment that will crush the FTR 1200, but it's too fun not to, bench racing is a serious addiction.
Nice car but I reckon my Z3 is way better, ( could have something to do with the saying,...." A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush) Alpal
Damn you Epoch! That's dirty pool!! How dare you strike me on my Achillies weak spot!!!,......,.....no,......it's Black,,..so it's slow,...... I get overtaken by boys on push bikes on their paper runs,.........NOT!!!!
That's a fun comparison none-the-less. But may I suggest a better analogy might be the Ford Raptor. (I passed a Veyron on I-10 westbound between Pensacola and Mobile. Montana plates. At first I thought it was an Alfa. Had to find it on the Internet to identify it. There was an elderly gentleman driving who put me in mind of Onasis -- thick mane of silvery-white hair, Hollywood-director type glasses with dramatic thick black temples -- who looked VERY tense. With a door ding devaluing the car by about $50,000, that's understandable. I wouldn't take one of those on the highway without a bodyguard of no less than four Hummers, and it would never see a Wal-Mart parking lot.
Working backwards, the Indian 750 FTR produces 109 HP. So theoretically, the 1200 FTR could have been capable of producing about 174 HP which is in Ducati 1200 range. Sadly, emissions and other things have reduced it down to a reported 120. But I bet those ponies are just sitting there waiting to be released by some tuning and mods.
That’s right I have a valkyrie for my Coast to Coast rides and I thought it’s is fast at 100hp at 900lbs
When they were on the market, a couple of guys at the local dealership would smoke the tires across the parking lot in 2nd gear. Or so I was told by another dealer. I'm still sorry I let mine go.
[Update] The official numbers are as follows: Horsepower: 123 hp at 8250 rpm Peak Torque: 87 ft-lbs at 5900 rpm
I'd have sacrificed a little of that horsepower for more torque, especially peaking that high in the rev range. That's going to be gearbox stirrer to make full use of the power. .
