Thanks for the welcome. I was just up in MN last week...I drove up to Duluth to get fitted at Aerostitch. One the way I made a detour over to Spirit Lake, IA to see the factory. Great trip, but a leisure one [2 days up and 2 back]. I concur on your comparison between the ST and the Indian. Very well said.
Just my not so humble opinion. Anything with a fairing and lowers, is nothing more than a cage convertible with the top down.
I have owned a lot of motorcycles and in fact also have an 18 Wing. That bike has absolutely superb handling in mountain turnies/twisties and is a fun ride all the way around. Never owned a pre 2018 style Wing..so I am no expert on the entire GW lineup....Does not have the soul of an HD or an Indian buts its a gem of bike in the stable. All these bikes have their pros and cons including my Indians. They all have strong and weak points....ride what you want to ride...what someone else thinks about your ride does not matter.
I started this thread to hear feedback on why people changed their rides, not their specific opinion about one model or another- not that I mind anyone necessarily voicing an opinion either e.g., "What's the best oil to use...?". Shit, the more bikes I can have in one garage the better! #winning
I dont think its necessarily “change” but in many cases simply “evolving” to other bikes or in many cases simply adding to what you already own. I see this all the time on the other forums as well regardless of brand. Your question is a good question but its not black and white for every rider or bike owner. My 2 cnts..
I bought a '19 GW mainly for the Auto trans. Always heard what a super comfortable long distance bike they were. Horse Hocky!!! That stock seat was maybe good for an hour. TIre pressure monitor system was a real PITA, always showing low readings, constantly putting air in the tires only to find out the system was screwed. Traded that Wing in on a new RM. If anyone needs an almost brand new Gold Wing nylon jacket let me know....... XL
