What has anyone paid to have the fork seals replaced on their Chieftain?
Quoted $800 at the dealer.
guess it's a bigger job than doing it on a Scout,......but have you got tinkering friends Brutus?,.....couple dozen beers is a lot cheaper than $800,......
For what a Dealer Charges at their sky high labor costs sadly for the work needing to be done pulling the forks on Polaris built machines if mechanically inclined the price of a service manual may be a better option .. Changing the Fork Oil alone is shocking because of the work involved ..
Just wanted to note that we appreciate the humor in that thread Jay. "Shocking", well played. lol
If it hasn't been done yet try this:
Seal Mate Will Fix Your Leaky Fork Seals Guaranteed!
Depending on had "bad" the seals are it might do the trick. I used it on my seals (2014 Chieftain) and got another 1-1/2 to 2 years out of them.
Agree, that is worth a go to get any grit out of the seal.
Made one from a plastic coke bottle and the seals got a stay of execution for about 6 months. Just have to make sure there are no sharp edges that can cut the seal.
Typical South Islander!,......will do anything to save 5 bucks!
Now I just need 80 more good ideas like that one and I'll be able to pay for that Michelin Commander 3 that went on the Scout last week.
Just tell them the cheque is in the mail and soon as i win Lotto I'll shout byou that tyre Buddy!
