Oh man, to be honest, I was incredibly saddened by the news of the amputations. I am sure Gina and Wooly man will explore everything possible for her to gain more mobility and some dexterity again, but this is going to be a very tough row to hoe. We all know she is up for a big fight, its just that now it’s a bigger fight than I first realised. And it was big even then. I am gutted, but I know she is a fighter and a very tough and brave woman.

I am sending massive positive thoughts across the Pacific to you Gina, for a recovery that gives you plenty to live for over many, many more years.

This news saddens me. Even tho I know how tuff she is and will get thru this. I continue to keep her in my thoughts and prayers daily.

It saddens me too, @Ny Mike. Just because she is tough enough to get through it doesn't mean she deserves to or should have to. One of my big questions to myself was/is "Why did this happen to me, and not some rotten person who deserved it more?" But I know random things happen to random people. It's just the way life is. We just need to remind ourselves of all the positives still in our life. When I ask myself "why me?" I turn right around and ask "why Not me?"

So, so right @sidecarsam . Their was a stretch in my life where I wondered the same. Lost my father at the age of 16, then my grandma at 17 and soon after my younger brother barely survived a terrible accident. I couldn't believe it but I was only looking at myself. Pretty selfish thought's on my part. I wasn't the story.

That's tremendously sad. Wow, I can't even imagine the loss and pain.
You are not always the story, but it still affects us emotionally and physically. I think Cindy has PTSD from my accident. Not her story, but it still profoundly impacts her. Sometimes life sucks. But it's still better than pushing up Daisies. :)

Got that right. I really got a dose of reality about 6 years ago. My wife set me down one time and said you got to learn to enjoy life. I said what are you talking about. She said look what has happened in your past. (described above).
All you do is work and don't enjoy the fruit's of your labor. That's when she mentioned buying a bike. So I/we did and now I work the least amount possible and the rest is on the bike with my beloved spouse... weather permitting..

I've been away from this forum for a good while now, but damn. I read this thread with both horror at Gina's accident and hope at all the encouragement everyone's sending. I'd like to add my own voice to that encouragement - Gina, I wish you a speedy and as complete a recovery as is possible. Woolly Man, don't forget to look after yourself, too.

She seems to be in good spirits. She said she could go for a Huckleberry Milkshake about now after seeing a foto of me eating Huckleberry Ice Cream.

I have always been a cautious rider, especially since I ride high mileage where the risk increases exponentially. Gina, your accident is a loud wake up call to all of us to be more vigilant with ANY vehicle that we operate. I’m stepping up my safety practices because none of us are immune to tragedy but all of us are admiring your bravery !
