Hi folks! I'm very new here and have essentially joined to get some feedback. I'm very strongly leaning towards buying a Chief Dark Horse this summer. My idea is to make a completely convertible town bike/tourer. I want to get the basic dark horse, with pegs instead of boards, fit it with a short front fender, and clean up the rear panels and maybe even rear fender to make it as minimalist as possible. Then, for touring mode, I want the Dirty Bird fairing, hard bags, put the big stock front fender on, crash bar fitted with the stock floorboards as highway pegs, and a nice 2 person touring seat. I know all this stuff will be costly, but in Canada the Chieftain is about 8 grand more than the Chief. And you can't take a lot of that stuff off. It'd be very cool if I could get it so I could do the conversion in under an hour. Looks like the fairing takes only a couple minutes to put on... I'm wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to clean up some of the panels near the rear of the bike? It just seems like a big wall of bodywork. Also, any other suggestions, tips or warnings if I decide to take this project on? Cheers!
Cheers, she's a beauty. Really like how utterly blacked out she is. Has anyone found a more minimalistic fender for sale anywhere? Any idea how hard it would be to find something compatible?
You can buy the Indian OEM fender from the new Cheiftain Dark Horse - it is probably what you are after.
When he stopped by my place for a face to face a while back, his bike was parked in my garage. My wife, who won’t even acknowledge my Bike even exists, commented on how “Sexy” Sam’s Bike was.
