Has anyone noticed a difference between the two different style Indian fairings? My RM has the original-ish Locomotive and I haven't tried out their new one.

On a side note, the fixed fairing on the Chally does a far better job to reduce both wind and noise.

The #ChiefGlide works as well as the Loco. I've had both and recognize no significant difference.

I’m only running a fairing because I’ve given in to the old man comfort. To me riding is still feeling the wind in your face, so I hope and pray that I can always have one bike with a fairing, one without.

I can't speak from personal experience, but I've heard that the new fairing allows more wind coming in from the bottom and that that things like the JES deflectors do not work as well on the new fairing.

That's what Craig Vetter always maintained.

How ones Ride Looks is always a Personal Choice but if ever owned another Chieftain would definitely be the Locomotive Style as I had with my 2017 Chieftain Dark Horse .. Not a Fan of the HD Copycat Street Glide Batwing Fairing plus losing your Aux Lights like on the Locomotive ..

I never enjoyed the chrome bezel in the turn signals. That whole situation would be better if they came smoked out from the OEM, IMO.

I guess it really depends on the color of the fairing. While I much prefer the look of the locomotive style fairing, the integrated turn signal color never bothered me.

I agree with on the look of the original and would never trade my '17 DH Chieftain. But with the release of the JD RM - with it's new running lights - I think we've seen the end of the Locomotive.

I prefer the locomotive myself. Never rode the Batwing Harley style but have been told by a Brother of mine it gets buffeting about 110. My locomotive rock steady at 118. But personally I prefer the look runnin lights and signals in it myself. Again it’s personal preference. If they eliminate the locomotive I’ll just keep mine. No big deal I love my 18 limited

You are Probably Correct There .. Could live with that a little better The Ultra Classic at least knew I was more visible Front and Rear that single headlight up front and those two small tail lights in the rear just don't cut it for me ..

Good point, but still doesn’t feel the same. I can’t pretend I’m 30 years old again with a fairing:D

I like the new look also  but I will say the new fairing and lowers allows too much air to come over and under the gas and over the lower fairing. Much of that air hits my knees which seems to bounce up into my face and chest causing 10 times more buffeting compared to my 2018 RM Elite. I am positive this was Indians attempt to address the "heat" issue by adding more air down the side of the bike that you cannot alter as you could with the old lowers having the deflector. With the old lowers you could cut off all the air under the tank and over the lowers giving you a nice quite pocket to sit in.

I never had a heat complaint on my 2018 unless I was stopped, and you know, even my Motus makes my legs warn when stopped.

Indian did a great job of cleaning up the cluttered look of the fairing by integrating all the lights. The look of the new style fairing with the tacked on lights is a real step backwards IMHO.
