Damn! I hope it’s not a prelude to a big one too. Be safe as you can over there.

Gators aren’t a problem. They usually keep to themselves. It’s the Irish ya gotta watch out for. (Just kidding)

My Great Granddaddy was a Quinn all the way from Dublin,....was a policeman in the Otago Goldfields before being posted up to the North Island to Taranaki,.....was quite a character and is mentioned more than once in a book about the police force in Taranaki in the early days,....He was quite near you @muz , Manaia, Hawera and Stratford.

I hear ya. We had small ones like that when I was stationed in Adak Alaska and then again in Northern Japan. I didn’t mind them too much as long as they occurred while I was awake. I absolutely hated waking up with the earth shaking. Just too damn disorienting to me. Anyhow, just be safe and have a plan to get to high ground if needed.

Thanks for your concern and advise Buddy,......We are in fact ON high ground as our house is built on a rise overlooking a beautiful pond. The pond was part of the property originally but the previous owners donated it to the Council. And as to the High ground thing, Steph is kinda hoping it doesn't turn into the Stairway to Heaven!!!!:p:p:p

Hi Buddy,.........They have been occurring roughly an hour apart until the last one which was thirty minutes ago,........at least it was only 3.3 on the scale which meant Steph and I did not feel it where we are,........I would not like to be at Foxton Beach at the moment however,....It has not been established the epi-centre is off the coast or not,......If they are then I worry for people in the Foxton Beach area as the land is mighty flat around there and thus dangerous should a tsunami strike.

My father who lives in Blenheim, (that is at the top of the South island for you people from far away lands) said, that when the big earthquake hit at Kaikoura, (east coast of northern South Island) he could not physically get out of bed and the house was moving 5 feet on its foundations. They were terrified.

Not worried about them. They stay in the swamps. They don't clog the roads and the beaches and the restaurants and the motels and look stupid on the beaches.

Yeah,..... She is one cool cucumber,.......takes it all in her stride,......Her hero on whom she models herself on is none other than Helen Clarke, a former Burtland prime Minister,.......
