The Cannonball kick off yesterday with a photo and a short 10 mile ride. There was a tribute to Lonnie ( the man that started it all) at the banquet. Anyway so my favorite sport event started, if you don't know about it check it out. The Antique Motorcycle Club of America - News Motorcycle Cannonball -Home There are a total of 23 different Indian motorcycles competing this year. 4 women this year and as always a a lot of spots along the way to meet these half brave and half crazy racers. I already have plans to go up to Spirt Lake on 14 and meet the riders then.
One of the competitors this year is from a local restaurant. He own the Ripp Rapp restaurant and has it decorated with several early 20s Indians. Last time I was there he had his 47 and the race bike out for all to see.
Which are you Gina?. I sent the link to Noel, my sick mate and he said where's Gina? Like it was a female version of where's Wally! What wheels are you on? Requiring minds are asking! Alpal
@Alpal I wish!!! None of my bikes are old enough. My oldest is the 47. I think they allowed up to 1928 in this race. Nor do I have the money to keep a bike that old running for this race. I dont have a portable machine shop, or a support crew like most the racers have. So I dream that if I am some what good in this life I will get to race the cannonball in my next life. Or get a motorcycle sugar daddy to take care of this addition of mine...
Well yesterday was a first, the people in charged called off the entire ride yesterday because of rain/ washout roads. Day before what a interesting read, I like the part where Kelly is talking about only losing a few minutes of time to have a weenie roast over his Indian. Yes guys his bike caught on fire, they put it out and he still rode it the rest of the day. Like I said half crazy, anyway Kelly owns a museum not far from Witchita Kansas, I usually go about twice a year to check it out. And they always have a bike they are working on that you can watch them work on. It is called the Twisted Oz Motorcycle Museum. Really great folks if ever you are in the neighborhood you should check it out. Other then a fire they had a few to many bikes break down leaving the sweep crew very busy. And the "pitcrews" busy trying to get them back up and running.
What year was it that you were kissing that handsome blue boy Gina? I'm sure I recognise that pose from when I was there in 68......? Alpal
Singapore? Tiger Balm Gardens? Yeah? And if not, where? I'm sure I have a pic of that handsome lad from when I was there a lifetime ago,.......but then again,.......they were some of the most drunken days of my life!!! Alpal
Nora bitsu, Japan. It is a really cool volcanic area that I hiked all around that year/trip. Went back in winter of 2014, hiking was not that easy with everything covered in ice. But who else can say they spent Christmas in Hells Vally? As you can see I play with my demons... first two are from Christmas 2014 last one is from the trip in 2011
Gina! Bad girl! You leave his ,........things alone now you hear!!! You can take her anywhere twice,.......once for fun,......the second time to apologise!!!! Alpal
I'm bummed it's not ending in Carlsbad again this year. The final leg of the last one was awesome! It truly is a wonderful site to see all these bikes.
I bet the sound of all those beauty's is a sound never forgotten ,......I've heard two old Indians chatting to each other, a 23 Scout and a 1942 741B and that was great but never a big group.
Tomorrow I will run up to Spirt Lake Iowa and meet the riders at their evening stop. Will try to get lots of picture for you guys. you might be right about that. @ Alpal, I just had to know what a demons things look like, lol.
Okay went to meet the racers in Spirt Lake Iowa, yes guys where are Indians are made. This one is a couple racing, very nice people also meet their pit crew. Riders coming in for the day. This is one of my favorite because it looks like an old bike. This is one of two bikes that was being rode in by man power. (They had broke down and to get there points they still side saddled and pushed them in) Me with Jody Perwitz, she has 16 land speed record holders. Kelly Moldin, the one who had the weenie roast over his motorcycle and still rode it. And some Indian porn for your Sunday morning.
Done well Gina! They are looking good, you are looking good, and the weather is looking good, and smiles all round! Awesome!!! Alpal
