Ever walk into a room, see whats going on, and then slowly back out desperately trying to unsee it all?
I, also, was expecting a more serious post with a good description of how the 116 upgrade was working out.
There's a lot more sawdust in that vid than you think but you can't see it cos it's all between their ears!,.......
Ok here your go. I picked the bike up yesterday. Couldn't see the bike as they brought it around from out back but I could hear a bike coming around the corner. Couldn't be mine because that thing sounded completely different. It was louder and with a little rpm had a badass rumble. If there was any noise generated from the engine mechanicals they are overridden by the exhaust note at anything but idle. The service writer warned me the bike might stumble at first but it would calm down as I rode, it did. About thirty miles via freeway from the dealer to home and I had to deal with midmorning traffic so I would try to vary the engine speed by slowing in the right lane and moving to the left as traffic slowed. Never got the rpms over 2800 in any gear and at this I could still run in the number one lane if I wanted. Now what you really want to hear. Off idle the bike felt like it wanted to stumble and possibly die but it never did. Reminded me of a carbed bike where it might be necessary to blip the throttle a little as you let out the clutch. I believe that this will smooth out with some mileage. Once underway and the revs start to climb a little the thing is nothing but smiles. I can only imagine what it's going to be like higher in the rev range. As others have said this thing wants to run. It doesn't gradually gain speed, it does it right now. I felt no additional engine heat with the day around 65 degrees and wearing riding pants. Power wise it's night and day from stage two. If I was riding two up mostly, I would, at this point recommend staying with stage two/pvcx for the smooth application of power. For a sidecar rig, I wouldn't say one way or the other yet, not until I ride it a little more. Would I lay down the cash again, hell yes I would.
Just an update. Now that the bike has a few hundred miles on it it’s low rpm manners have returned. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this as an upgrade for any application. Mild manners when you need it and suck you back in the seat with a twist of the wrist for laughs. Happy Trails
This is really good news regarding the 116. I get mine back Saturday and I have been a little apprehensive about whether I made the right move or not.
