I just spent two weeks in Orlando for work and ended up at the Ace Cafe three times. The first time I went there, I was greeted by what I think was a 1942 Indian Chief in the parking lot. Anyway, I really enjoyed the place, the food, atmosphere and drinks were excellent. If you're not up on the original Ace Cafe in London, do some research. There's really some cool history there...and I definitely would have been a Rocker, never a Mod...and remember, the original American clubs allowed English bikes...
I have only been to the Ace Cafe in London - I would like to visit the Ace Cafe's in the States - always wondered if they were any good or not. By the way @Gator Mcklusky, where are the Photos?
Something like that might coax me to go to Orlando .. Is for sure all the Tourists Traps & Lost Out of State Drivers sure as hell won't ..
You know man, I'm horrible about not taking pictures. I don't know why, but I just never think about it, until it's too late! I seriously need to work on that.
Would love to visit the Orlando shop one day, here in the UK the original Ace is still going strong still getting attention from the Police although the road past it is now a minor road and not the main ring around London (read about the Ton up boys - ) The Ace here has days through the year for certain makes of bikes/cars and for the past few years have held a Victory & Indian day which is very well attended, perhaps someone should organise something there?
Every Thursday night is unofficial bike night. The place is packed with all kinds of 2 wheelers. There are even some rad cars too. If you choose that night get there early. It will be packed and finding a place to park can be an adventure.
Exactly what I was thinking. It gave me a whole new appreciation for the motorcycles and the Rockers.
The culture spread from England down to Burtland but was nowhere near as violent as the Mods and Rocker clashes in the old country. Ray Columbus, a kiwi pop star of the day capitalised on the scene with hit, " She's a Mod!" While I was not a Rocker I identified with them, I saw them as cool dudes, who the fudge wanted to ride a step through! I mean, come on! However what I'd give to have a Zespa or Lambretta in good condition today! Alpal
I agree that it would be cool to have an old Vespa, but dang if it isn’t a difficult thing to project a tough guy image on one!
