I wonder if they will have a retrofit kit for that new dash.
I hope so. It sure would look nice on my 2016 RM dash.
That is an good question..... Crap, I better start saving my money!
The dash is COMPLETELY different, but I don't know if they are far enough along in the product cycle to change all of the fairing mounting points. Hopefully all of the dash mounts are in the same spot, so the whole dash will interchange and be plug and play.
Looks the same from this side
I already told my wife that I see a new dash in my future.
YES! It is important to get those seeds planted early.
How is the wife? Tell her "Hi." for me.
Thanks for asking. She is doing well. She's excited for our trip to Colorado tomorrow to visit her family before we hit Sturgis.
NICE! I am headed back to Austin tomorrow for a buddy's bachelor party and then I am riding Scarlett back to NM early next week. Should be a rad trip!
I sort of wish I had a full fairing and this new GPS system. HA!
Have fun at bachelor party and safe fun trip back with Scarlett.
Looking at the picture, I am curious if it would be an easy swap to put the 2017 tank console on the earlier bikes. It looks as if the first and possibly only issue would be relocating the start button to the dash of the 2016 fairing.
The button could be relocated to the cigarette port position, keeping the dash appearance symmetrical, and the power port relocated to one of the two existing knockouts on the lower dash. Other than that it appears the only other switches are for the saddlebag / trunk locks and heated grips and these are in a similar if not the same position on the 2014 - 2016 bikes.
I am working on getting some answers to the retrofit questions. Will report back if and when I know something.
I can't wait to get up close and personal with the 2017 in Sturgis when I do a demo ride.
I don't want to get personal, but I do want to get up close. At least now all I have to do is ride 297 mi instead or 587 to see one. What I really want to see is a White Smoke Chieftain. Nothing else at this time. Hoping to get my HD RK sold soon so I can get a new Side by Side for a second car.
The pics of the white smoke look bad ass..... I can't wait to see one in person!
Okay, so I have some less than good news.
From a VERY credible source: the new dash is not going to be plug and play. There is a whole new harness, vcm, and essentially all of the guys are different for the new Roadmaster. It sounds like it would be a significant investment to try and retrofit. Possible? Yes, but potentially cost prohibitive.
Where is 297 miles away?
Allsport in Liberty Lake WA
Allsport is selling Indians now? That is nice to know - since I go to Spokane so much.
